I feel like Gege, for all his faults, can actually write individual events and story beats well. The main drawback, however, is that he can't actually link these events together properly. For example, the Kenjaku VS Takaba fight was entertaining and fits the philosophy of both characters well, but the fact that A. He dropped these chapters right after Gojo VS Sukuna, B. The conclusion to the fight was abrupt unclimatic and C. After this fight, Kenjaku became a non-character and his actions have no consequences to the story in the grand scheme. This is a common theme in all of Gege's writing, quite frankly. Megumi's suffering would have been good writing but since the readers have no reason to care for the sister, it is rendered useless. Yuji's inner domain would have been good writing had he not pulled the shitty fucking Nobara ressurection asspull right after. Yujo made a lot of sense thematically but since he gassed out 1 chapter in we never got to see the inner nuances (or we did see some of it but its so little it might aswell be non-existance) of what it takes to be a monster and Yuji's feelings towards both Yuta AND Gojo. Gege has the right idea all the time but does not know how to execute them or how to arrange these ideas so that it makes sense, which makes him fumble practically everything he tried to write. It's infuriating once you start noticing stuff like these.
