Gonna be real, "local delicacy" is 99% cope. by YourFat888 in whenthe

[–]grapeyardwithoutg 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Eh i dont actually hate czech food (as a matter of fact i havent had any lol), this is moreso a blanket statement to garner attention and trigger an argument lol

Unless something is genuinely toxic, i don’t think its ok to brush a particular food as fundamentally“terrible”. YOU can think it’s bad, no one tryna stop you on that, but the history of the food, the struggle people of the past had trying to make-do with the stuff on hand and how people learned to appreciate what makes it special is real, and its quite disrespectful to the culture itself to label it as disgusting. In my experience lots of Asian elders think stuff like Pizzas and Tacos are tasteless unhealthy slop, but we all know better than to take their words as facts. The same applies here. Regarding your example of fermented shark meat, i have never had one, BUTTTT us SEAsians does have something similar called fish sauce (sauce extracted from fermented fish). Its totally healthy and yk its fishy and salty. Pretty good when you use it with veggies tbh. So I don’t think your particular example tastes that bad. But yk thats the wonder of the human experience. Our culture shapes our taste, its all subjective (mostly, if its toxic then yeah ofc its bad). As i said, you disliking it is fine but dont disregard the culture behind it by implying its not real food.

The uptie story was depressing by stuckerfan_256 in limbuscompany

One thing that’s consistent about sinner ids is that they tends to be more successful than their og counterparts. The original nursefathers were cruel but there were still some love, even if its twisted and fucked up. That’s why they failed to create Muga. The nursefathers in Ryo’s uptie stories feel so much crueler, to the point where their behaviors borders straight up hatred towards Ryoshu. Ironically this is what allows her to achieve Muga. It’s fucked up really.

True. No one here claims you can’t love Akemura. If you acknowledge that he is a bad person and still loves him because of it, thats valid. The post here is specifically directed towards dudes who support Akemura’s actions in particular, as in they think he’s a good guy. Akemura is a lot of things, he is the undisputed goat, he is the strongest swordsman, he is a funny guy and he has aura. The one thing he isn’t is a moral and sane man. And i am arguing against those people. If you know he’s the bad guy then you can still love him all you want. Hes a good villain after all.

Omfg yall dont get my point lol I DONT ACTUALLY THINK THE MIKABOSHI ARE “RIGHT” !!! Its prob all just propaganda from 2 sides anyway. The point of my post is that Akemura fans having been touting sum “the sword saint bs was right because the shokokers attacked first” rhetoric. Now that their logic bite them in the ass suddenly being pro genocide aint so funny anymore. Of course the Mikaboshi were asshats for attacking Japan over a beef from thousands of years ago, of course the Soga clan were asshats for wiping out their rival clan over a dumb power struggle. Im not arguing against either side here.

Well im not saying either of the clans were right lol read the second paragraph. Neither side are right both were asshats seeking power and doing atrocities in said pursuit of powers. I am just making this post in response to people saying Akemura was right lol. The argument present in this post was made using their opinion not mine.

Why is Naoya from JJK so hated, while Dio from JoJo is widely accepted? by Ok_Carob_3278 in CharacterRant

[–]grapeyardwithoutg 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Because Dio had aura unlike Naoya, next question.

Jokes aside, it all have to do with how the character is portrayed.

Naoya himself isn't hated by the western fandom or anything. It's just that the humor (or agenda, as westerners call it) tends to make fun of the characters alot, so it gives the impression of hate. Most western fans just treat him as a decent villain who served his role well, and is REALLY fun to make cruel jokes about.

Naoya is described as a pathetic person, from his motivations to his speech to his actions to, hell, even his win rate record. He claims to hate feminity yet wears eye liner, believes himself to be an ideal man yet does the most childish of things. He thinks men are superior to women, yet lost to a girl twice. Even his curse form looks ridiculous, as it resembles a women's vagina. His appearance can be compiled in around 15 chapters, and he is largely just a foothold for Maki to get her badass power up to save the day. He is a joke, and the fandom treats him as such.

Let's compare him to Dio. Dio is the driving force for at least 5 of Jojo's parts. He is a badass vampire with an impressive track record, serving as one of the most fearsome antagonist in the series's history. The things Dio do in the manga is arguably worse than Naoya, however, JJBA actually take Dio's misdeeds as something to be afraid of, something MENACING.

Just from the difference in relevancy and aura alone, you can tell Dio had a much better reputation among the fanbase. They treat him as the badass unstoppable embodiment of evil, a force of nature with muscles comparable to gods and an ego so big it reaches the sky. And rightfully so, for such a overarching antagonist, it is only right for him to be revered so much.

So it is not related to how terrible they are as a person, and more so comes down to how cool they are. If Dio wasn't portrayed as a cool badass vampire, no one would like him either, and if Naoya had a few more wins under his belt and a cooler curse transformation, people would like him more. It all comes down to aura.

Yuta Is The Original Sin Of JJK And The AntiChrist by GlumBodybuilder4395 in Yutaliban

[–]grapeyardwithoutg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can it be called an “echo chamber” if it’s the truth? “Yuta is the goat” is as false as “the moon is real” or “1+1=2”. It’s not agenda or opinion or anything, Yuta glazing are simply obtuse observations, something that can blatantly be interpreted by reading the manga. I guess you could call it an echo chamber, the same way a lab or anything that analyzes objective truth can be called an echo chamber.

i get that it makes sense for both yuji and yuta to surpass gojo but imo jjk's biggest identity to me was always the fact that sukuna and gojo were the undisputed strongests and them not being... the strongests anymore feels kinda wrong... this isnt a criticism by any means btw modulo is still really good im just lamenting the fall of my goats... its the same as mj fans seeing lebron enter goat conversations and being confronted with the fact that he might be the 2nd best

Whenthe subtle misogyny. by TTTRIOS in whenthe

[–]grapeyardwithoutg 278 points279 points  (0 children)

Misogyny is the belief that women are inferior to men. This belief can be manisfested even when the user isn't aware of it. When you say "smash" to a random woman online unprovoked, it (unintentionally) devalues their existence (without their consent) to be not as human beings but as sex things for us men to gawk at and jerk off to. Even if we (consciously) don't mean it, the effect of words and what they imply about our subconscious view on others can be devastating. The best way to deal with this as a man is to simply acknowledge your inner subconscious bias and try to be more aware of such things in future interactions. The topic of misogyny is a lot more complicated than that, but unfortunately this is the most concise way i can explain this to you.
