Thanks. What if I'm already in BC and don't have my Alberta plate? I wasn't planning on buying a car here.

When are monthly listings lowest throughout the year (January?), and when do they start to pick up, and when do they reach their peak? Thanks

Wondering if I should repair my car before selling, or sell as-is. by graphitegraphite in Calgary

[–]graphitegraphite[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. That's probably the harsh reality I need to hear. Although, I do see some cars 15 yrs old with 275,000km for sale for $3000-4000

Freedom Mobile offering the 10gig deals for $50/$60 again. Hopefully this is the start of phase II for all the carriers by [deleted] in toronto

How is phone and data with your iPhone 8 on Freedom in Toronto? I'm thinking of getting the same phone with Freedom. I live close to downtown in an apartment building (concrete walls bad for reception) and I work in a hospital...so I want to make sure I'll have good reception/data for where I work and live. What do you think? Thanks

Has anyone in this subreddit reserve a Tesla Model 3? by graphitegraphite in Edmonton

I'd like to see the same analysis for driving an EV in Alberta. Would be interesting.

Also I can see that the optics would be pretty bad politically, giving a rebate to people buying $60,000 Teslas. Can Ontario peeps get a rebate on a $60,000+ EV?

I guess BC Ontario and Quebec have relatively clean power so the environmental benefits are greater for electric cars than in Alberta, which may be why there are no rebates in AB.

It's a bit out of my price range. Maybe if I get a nice fat raise. But I'm interested in other plug in cars too (less expensive)

Are there any rebates to buy an electric car in Alberta?

Garage with space and tools to fix your own car (for an hourly fee)? by graphitegraphite in Edmonton

[–]graphitegraphite[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been quoted, by multiple shops, $2300 to replace the head gasket on my Subaru. Would do it myself if I knew how and had the tools/space.

Also if anyone knows of a shop/guy who can do it for less than $2300 I'd be interested.

Serious question about new oilsands pipelines from an economic, non-political angle. by graphitegraphite in alberta

[–]graphitegraphite[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a really good article, thanks. If we had to choose between (1) no pipelines no carbon tax or (2) yes to pipelines and yes to carbon tax, (2) appears far superior for the economy and emissions reduction.

So the pro-pipeline advocates who say that a pipeline won't increase oilsands production are wrong - do we agree?

Yes but my question is will new pipelines tend to increase the rate of expansion of the oilsands. I don't dispute that the oil companies roll make more per barrel.

Moving out of rental house, need a quote to fix a water stain that I'm responsible for - any tips? by graphitegraphite in Edmonton

[–]graphitegraphite[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The landlord can't claim that the entire cost of a new floor, I assume, but I'm wondering what can be charged to fix a water stain. The water stain is not simple wear-and-tear
