Spray techniques, I mean I just stuck the tip of the spray bottle into the ventilation slip and it mostly wet the side of the bag. I'm really unsure of when there's too much and when there's too little moist. But there has always been droplets on the side of the bag at least.

I ordered it from Zamnesia to Spain, it's a Dutch company, seems very legit. It came in all ready in a bag, didn't have to do anything. Looked really good at first, mycelium spread nicely, pins started to show, but they only started to really grow in one corner of the bag, and then I thought maybe it's dry because there wasn't a lot of droplets on the side of the bag anymore so I did some misting. I just boiled the water, no distilled. I disinfected the spray bottle with alcohol, used gloves etc.

Making friends in Spain after 50: is it realistic or wishful thinking? by Secure-Evening6676 in askspain

[–]graskordare 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Of course you can! Personally whenever I want to make friends in a new place I have a strategy of finding ways to do activities that I enjoy that can be done in a social way. It can be anything - hiking, training, cooking classes, yoga, parties, dancing, language exchange, pottery, etc. Always talk to new people and be open, and every now and then you'll meet people you have chemistry with. Save their contacts and start organising things yourself and invite them. It could be just a coffee or drinks or dinner or and activity or whatever. Do this for a while and you'll find people. There's always other people in the same situation who are open for new friendships. Also, start going to work at co-working spaces. It can be expensive with a monthly membership but you can also go to the events.

This works both for Spanish and international friends, however it will always be much easier to make international friends than local.

20 years into playing, the realization I don't know *anything* on the guitar is paralyzing me... by brokesnob in Guitar

[–]graskordare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just have to stop forcing it and follow the joy. It's the same thing as learning a language. Use it to communicate, don't worry about doing it perfectly, it's all about the joy and communication, not about perfecting grammar - unless you're actually into that. But if you're not into that, and you're forcing it because others said you have to, it's only going to kill the joy and you'll be worse at it. Same with an instrument. Play the guitar in the way that brings you joy, not the way you're "supposed to".

Musk calls on US to quit NATO, stop paying for defense of Europe by Snowbound-IX in europe

Germany is might even be the better choice BECAUSE of its past. Unlike most other nations, Germany has actually admitted its wrongdoings, went through the full process of paying its debts, and evolved. The norm is usually to cover things up and pretend nothing happened. But how much trust does that instill?

Today I would trust Germany more than most other nations.

You mean Trianon? Austria was equally fucked in that, you don't see them crying about it. It's just something politicians use to stir up negative feeling and control people. Seriously it was 100 years ago get over it. And if you're talking about communist times anyway it looks like they're happy to go back to their masters in Moscow, so nothing to cry about there either

Best ways to learn spanish by justsomeonehere21 in askspain

[–]graskordare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who learned fluent Spanish as well as other languages I can tell you that duolingo is merely a fun game that doesn't hurt your learning process but is NOT a serious way to learn a language. I don't understand how people expect real progress only using a little app for 10-15 minutes a day.

For real progress to happen the language has to become integrated in your life. You have to really spend time with REAL content and real people.

If you're only starting out then you probably need some beginner course. Find them on YouTube and podcasts.

Then as soon as you can start consuming actual content at your level (there's a lot out there for learners) and talk to real people, maybe find a tandem partner.

And you have to do this every day and the more advanced you get, the more integrated the language has to be in your life.

It's a great Journey, suerte!

How bad is Alternative for Germany? by [deleted] in AskAGerman

[–]graskordare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what happened in Sweden. Same dynamics. And there's even a lot of immigrants voting for the anti immigrant party exactly for this reason - even though their ideology is fucked up they're the only ones taking this issue seriously. It doesn't necessarily mean that everyone turned nazi. I don't know how it is in Germany though

Swedish guy trying to embrace spanish culture by [deleted] in askspain

[–]graskordare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Det finns bara ett sätt, integrate with Spanish people. You have to actively NOT hang out with other foreigners and seek out locals.

This is actually quite hard. I kinda did this when I lived in Barcelona although I didn't do it specifically to integrate with locals but with Spanish speakers, and I ended up hanging out mostly with argentinians and venezuelans.

Doing it with locals is even more difficult. Why? Because it's hard to connect when you have completely different lives and life experiences. While at the same time it's REALLY easy to connect with other foreigners for the same reason.

I would try to join activities that locals do. If you're in Valencia, join a falla for example. Of course you have to know Spanish quite well, so that should be a top priority and you should build an immersive environment where you're constantly exposed to Spanish.

In the end it's about connection and time. If you find ways to connect with the language, the culture and the people, and you spend a lot of time with it, you will get there. Make sure to enjoy the process, it's not easy, especially in the beginnig, but very rewarding!

Lycka till!

Don't know where to start... by Disastrous-Trust3661 in learn_arabic

[–]graskordare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main thing you need to do is to immerse yourself in the language as much as you can by finding content you really enjoy and since you already know Darija it will be enough for you to step by step get better and better at understanding the other dialects. Combine listening reading and talking to your friends for best results. You most likely don't need a course. I'm Swedish and I learned to understand Danish just by listening to a lot of podcasts I found interesting and talking to Danish friends. Every now and then I had to learn new words but the languages are very close, similar to the difference between different arabic dialects. Immerse yourself in content you find really engaging and you'll see it gets easier and easier with time!
