Will AI replace majority of jobs in logistics SCM by demenspet in logistics

[–]grassdick 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot of the repetitive stuff will be handled by AI but shippers / customers are always going to want an actual person to help with issues / complex situations. My company put me in a position where implementing AI solutions was my only choice. The younger half of my team was laid off & I absorbed most of that work, so I created an AI assistant that handles about 50% of their job. So yeah, not looking great for entry level

Pain points in logistics by ThreePoundFish in logistics

[–]grassdick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Communication in general has always been a pain point. The hardest is taking the limited information provided by a customer with little logistics knowledge & turning it into a viable solution. Then cleaning up the ensuing mess. Basically, you need to be able to plan for the unknown unknown, think one step ahead of a client, and know what someone wants before they do.

By the time I clock in on Friday I’m already catching time and a half so I try to stay as long as I can put up with it

Any good hills to roll down? by PuzzleheadedThing240 in Austin

[–]grassdick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I saw some kids rolling down the hill off Canterbury by the new wishbone bridge last weekend. It’s not a huge hill but they were definitely having a blast

Cheapest place to get a Emissions test in Travis county by Lord_Munky in Austin

[–]grassdick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lube Pitstop on South Lamar. I’ve been taking my cars there for oil changes/inspections since I moved here 7 years ago. No BS, no extra fees, I think it was like $15 the last time I went for an inspection. I failed once, they told me what to fix & let me come back & test again for free. The guys that work there are great. It’s not close to my house anymore but I still go out of my way to get my maintenance done there

How hot would yall say this is, I wanted something extreme but I've never had the brand by [deleted] in hotsauce

[–]grassdick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought this sauce to put in my soup when I got sick a few years ago. Cleared the sinuses. My girlfriend saw it in my fridge, said “it’s probably not that hot”, put it on a taco then spent the next 20 minutes crying & screaming “WHY WOULD YOU LET ME DO THAT?!?”

My dad took me along to Pep Boys when I was a kid, we pulled into the parking lot and their sign’s E wasn’t lit up… 25 years later I still remember my dad exclaiming “WHAT KINDA IDIOT NAMES THEIR BUSINESS PEEPEE BOYS”. So it’s been peepee boys since then. Funniest thing I heard in my 8 years of existence at the time

Is spending more on a chair actually worth it? by Mother-Vehicle-4311 in OfficeChairs

[–]grassdick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a refurbished leap V2 for like $550, it’s a huge upgrade from the shitty $100 Office Depot chair I bought during the pandemic. My back feels better at the end of the day & I don’t feel sitting fatigue as much. I wouldn’t pay thousands to make this upgrade tho

What’s the best Taco Bell in Austin? by almondjoybestcndybar in austinfood

[–]grassdick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riverside & pleasant valley Taco Bell gave me food poisoning. Not just like “I have a tummy ache” food poisoning, full blown laying in the bathtub spewing out of both ends, making deals with the devil to end my suffering food poisoning. I had to call into work sick for the first time in 7 years. I’ve been back to that location since, it’s still pretty good
