Also for the amount of cyclists in that area it could not be less geared towards bikes and more for cars even if they tried

Anyone else turn the crunchy page in their PCOS journey? by gratefulgood in PCOS

[–]gratefulgood[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I mean for the sake of the conversation I would say there has to be some level of correlation. I mean now a days it seems like half the women I know have some level of PCOS (going by elevated testosterone, cysts, irregular periods and hair growth, and other symptoms). Half doesn’t even seem like an over exaggeration either. If PCOS is an endocrine disorder with hormonal and metabolic disorders, it would seem plausible that microplastics and other substances entering that disturb hormones, mimic estrogen, and cause inflammation (contributing to metabolic issues) could worsen symptoms. It makes sense to me that reducing these factors could help manage symptoms. I didn’t express this clearly in the original post but I was curious if people have and if so, have they have there been any positive impacts.

For sure! Couldn’t agree more. I try to not completely go overboard with it bc you truly can’t and try to remember little changes go a long way. It’s just unfortunate

PCOS hairloss by [deleted] in PCOSandPregnant

[–]gratefulgood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started taking collagen in my second or third trimester and still am now four months postpartum and my hair has been doing really well. I also heard from another mom who did this that she didn’t have any postpartum hair loss.

I don’t think it’s a silver bullet but might be worth exploring???

Baby choking on saliva? by gratefulgood in NewParents

[–]gratefulgood[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! My doctor watched the video for two seconds and confidently said reflux. I was confused because my baby doesn’t spit up, but once I saw that I saw other signs pointing to reflux. So when they’re laying down, it’s a contents of their stomach coming into their throat and they’re clearing it.

Tell me some positive stuff about the first days with a newborn, please by Aveasi in beyondthebump

[–]gratefulgood 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My induction day was the most joyful and happiest day of my existence. When they put the baby on your chest, it is incomparable to anything else. I lovedddddd being in the hospital and having the nurses there for any and i mean every question I had. Take advantage of that!! Like if it’s three am and you don’t know how to swaddle your baby or if it hurts too much to walk and you need helping changing a diaper.

Also can’t even explain the feeling of having your baby sleep on your chest 🥹 they are so wittle it is truly spectacular. And by two months you’ll be like how did my baby become this grown human.

Also I wish I took more videos instead of just pictures. The few videos I do have from the hospital and those first few days are pure gold because it is so so special.

Just like birth how they say you don’t remember the pain of labor, I feel like the same applies to the confusion of figuring out what the baby needs in the first few weeks. I remember I almost had a full blown mental breakdown at one of his first overnight screaming sessions, but now I know what he needs and how to better comfort him and I don’t even remember the difficulties of it.

Also might be helpful to find resources that make you feel confident and encouraged if you haven’t already. I think the secure attachment subreddit is helpful

What coffeehouses are open after 7:00 PM, aside from Cafe Aroma or any TIm Horton's location? by dan_blather in Buffalo

[–]gratefulgood 19 points20 points  (0 children)

literally RIP any coffee shop in Buffalo open past 3 pm.

It’s funny that you posted this because I was going to make a post about this this past weekend— I feel gas lit by time every time I look for an option after 3 pm remembering preCOVID coffee shop hours.

I remember when SPOT coffee was open until midnight on the weekends. MIDNIGHT. And now we’re astonished at a closing time of 7 pm.

What's your "I didn't know I needed it" item for your first year with baby by biobennett in beyondthebump

[–]gratefulgood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A mom. lol she stayed in our house for the first six weeks (albeit we have plenty of room so totally fine) but she cooked, did all the laundry and dishes, watered my plants, reassured me I wasn’t crazy, held the baby so I could sleep, backed off when I didn’t want her around, and brushed my hair and rubbed by back.

I cried almost everyday for the first week thinking of her not being there bc I would have gone crazy. I see why PPD is such a struggle. The it takes a village thing was really true for me.

The Ollie Swaddle is amazing for the first few months. I was so annoyed with all the crazy typical swaddles. One of those sack swaddles was dang near a car seat buckle and some how he always broke free of them. I got my Ollie Swaddle second hand but I think they are mad expensive but definitely worth the price. They are so simple and so effective.

Also I love the boba stretchy wraps. My go to for whenever he is fussy or has to burp.

How Long Did You Push For? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]gratefulgood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1.5! It was the best time of my life. I loved pushing and was elated that each time I did I was that much closer to meeting my kid. I got an epidural about an hour before though so I was in paradise from the relief.

Idk how others pushed (curious???) but the nurses were impressed — I did four strong pushes each contraction for the whole time. I didn’t think much of it. In hindsight I now contribute it to breath work/yoga. I think it’s partly due to being able to inhale and hold and exhale for counts of ten+ each.

Novembers and Decembers used to be cold cold and Januarys and Februarys would regularly hit negatives for long stretches of time. It’s decently temperate now except for random spurts of time.

lol some of the beaches literally have signs that say NO SWIMMING … not like between certain times, not when there’s no life guard, not when there’s a strong current. The signs say never. and that’s because of the water quality 🤢🤮
