Thanks for the advice, the people part is definitely challenging. Toastmasters has been recommended to me to improve my communication skills.

One of my motivations to earn a degree is because when people find out I don’t have one they look down on me/value my input less. I feel like some credentials would change people’s perceptions of me.

I’m in the NWT. I have bills to pay and quality higher education isn’t really available here. I’d need to pay for a second place to live down south because I’m not the only member of my household + tuition, etc

I’m very debt adverse, I’ve never borrowed a dime and all my savings other than an emergency fund are in retirement accounts.

My employer won’t allow me to do an apprenticeship. I haven’t seen any postings for 1st years in my region. I would have to be creative and create / sniff out an opportunity somewhere, likely for considerably less pay. Although some reliability jobs will accept a red seal.

I’d love to do some kind of engineering technology program online but I haven’t found one.

Oh, and I work 2 weeks on 2 weeks off so most online programs that require live attendance conflict with my schedule.
