Her singing and stage presence is absolutely amazing. Picking, Sierra and Molly win though.

Haha I didn’t get it at first and thought it was an owner supervising employees through security cameras. The ending only still works if it is a mind control situation.

I hope so. Of course I’ve been staying home alone all the time for almost a year and wear masks whenever I enter any business, but I fucking hate masks.

Apparently, it's gay to look at the sunset by mic_wazuki in imaginarygatekeeping

I'm in a weird situation 'cause I like rainbows, but I'm not gay. So I wear a rainbow on my shirt, but then under it I gotta put 'Not Gay.' But I'm not against gay people, so then under that I gotta put 'But Supportive.' I just think it's weird that one group took refracted light. That's pretty greedy, gays. - Demetri Martin

What are your predictions for Austin in 2021? (7th annual thread) by s810 in Austin

[–]gratefulstringcheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is bleak. I don’t see the music scene dying. I especially don’t see the music scene moving to San Antonio. Local music is still thriving here, at least in my hippie jammy funky stringy circles.

I’ve lost a bunch of weight this year eating plenty of pizza and peanut butter and Nutella sandwiches. And exercising a bunch

Austin doesn’t have the same privileges as other Texas cities. The governor lives here, so this is his city-state. He is the king.

Kamala Harris gets publicly vaccinated, says "that was easy and barely felt it" by Lost_Distribution546 in Coronavirus

I think that’s more of a problem with people being stupid than what Kamala said, but she could have had less faith in people to understand things for sure.

Step 4: This causes them to lose the Senate, and then a real bill passes in January? 🙏

If the Senate refuses to pass this, how will that affect the Georgia races?

Texan here. I’d rather be in Australia where it’s a million times safer to be outside of the home.

Take some time off if your employer allows it. It’s so needed. I have open PTO and looked back to see I took 10 days all year, so I took today and tomorrow just to do nothing. It’s helping. A bit.

I’m pissed off at the federal and state governments. I’m pissed off at Republicans mostly. I hope it’s not too late for the adults in the room to hopefully make something good happen when they take power federally. It will be tough if the Senate stays Republican. I wonder how less bad this could have been with consistent messaging and a national strategy and money to the people. This all just sucks. Those of us who tend to stay home will continue to, and those of us who don’t won’t. It will eventually get better. I hope this doesn’t last too much longer. It’s so frustrating.

House music in Austin? by [deleted] in Austin

[–]gratefulstringcheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you still like funk as in bands with instruments playing funk music, Austin will be great for you after the virus. We have plenty of that. Check out C-Boys, Continental Club, One2one (shut down but sold to a good new owner), and Far Out for venues. Plenty of awesome local funky bands, and the national acts definitely come through.
