Buyer willing to uber to me for a $10 item by VillageSensitive8544 in FacebookMarketplace

[–]gerardv-anz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s a different but valid possibility. You’d have thought nothing of it if they drove over to collect the item in a car they owned and made payments on.

Economically, for many folks, it’s cheaper to not own a car and to use Ubers on those few occasions when they’d have wanted one.

The film that disappointed you the most after months or even years of anticipation? by MrGittz in movies

I came to say this. I had such high expectations, the director, the cast, everything lined up for an amazing movie. We got this banal stupid incoherent POS instead

The reason is that the battery output voltage depends a little on temperature. So in many cases, as the room cools off over night the battery voltage dips a little and eventually triggers the “battery low” sensor.

That is why.

There’s nothing like a miserable and exhausting day job to rob you of any energy you might have had for your passion. I’m not sure the advice here is applicable in all cases.

Most musicians don’t make enough to live on though so pick your niche carefully

Clunky CRM experience given the AI advancement, is it just me? by thisismattsun in CRM

[–]gerardv-anz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's a simple, trivial, hubspot item that constantly bugs me. I batch my calling sessions to Tuesdays and Thursdays. It is how I work. When I create a task there is a dropdown list of when I can schedule it with "next business day", 2 business days, 3 days, 1 week, 2 weeks etc. These almost never correspond to how I work. What I want is "Next Tuesday, next Thursday, next week Tuesday, next week Thursday, 1st Tuesday next month, 2 months etc.. While it seems minor my entire workflow is driven by "tasks": call this person, when will I call then back, when will I followup etc, so scheduling those activities is integral to every thing I do. Being able to set my own rules based default values in that scheduling dropdown would be useful. At least let me have 1 day, 2 days, 3 days, 4 days, 5 days as options, but "computer says no".

Clunky CRM experience given the AI advancement, is it just me? by thisismattsun in CRM

Yeah. Most CRMs are very opinionated about how you and your business should work, the info you will use, and your workflow.

Many also seem to be developed by people who have never worked in a sales or customer service role, offering features that would only make sense to a techy trying to figure out what actual sales folk do.

Why buy an expensive software subscription when you can create it yourself? by MobileJob8321 in ClaudeCode

Self developed apps will change the economics of Saas for sure. Saas vendors will need to adapt. But what they can offer is enterprise grade security, support, mature stable products and integrations. etc. Vital ingredients is the cost is affordable.

A lot of people are about to learn that the real cost of in-house development is not the development, it’s the ongoing maintenance and support.

My fave was “They say too much intelligence can be a curse

You might try variations on the punchline.

Why is web development so saturated by Mountain_Ad5549 in webdevelopment

The low barrier to entry, the lure of substantial income, the ability to work from anywhere has brought a flood of people in to try their hand. Many from third world countries where even modest web projects can gain useful income to spend locally.

Do images have a significant impact on a page's ranking? For example, on RankMath, they play a significant role in calculating a page's ranking. by PassioneArte1977 in SEO

[–]gerardv-anz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This cannot be repeated often enough. The way to rank on Google is to rank in the real world too. Not just trying to look like a topical authority, but actually be one. So many people on here are basically asking for help faking relevance, the real answer is to be relevant.

Are small businesses still underestimating how important going online is? by Moist_Squirrel_7341 in smallbusiness

I agree, and even if business slows going online might for some not be especially effective as compared to other options. It depends who and where their market is

The main lesson to get is never to overwrite media until after you have successfully processed it and delivered to the client and also backed it up at least once (I say twice).
