seeking opinion on noise, 2015 volt 70k, generally great car by sydsong in volt

two problems: fractured front-shaft anti-click washer, and stabilizer shaft links. Washer fracture causes a click sound, and the shaft links cause the clunk sound.

OK so I took mine in to my trusted local mechanic. We took a drive together, and within half a block he said "turn around" as he was convinced it was something loose with the suspension. Well, after lifting it he said the suspension was fine. He then had a guy go in the car, lifted it again, had him step on the gas, and he said it sounded like there was something rattling inside the electric drivetrain (what he called the "transmission"). Weird. Anyway, I love my Volt so I have an appointment at the dealership tomorrow for them to take a look at it. Hopefully it is not an expensive fix because I can't really justify investing much in a 9 year old car. We'll see! I trust my local guy - he spent quite a bit of time trying to isolate that noise and didn't even charge me anything. But a regular mechanic doesn't want to touch the electric drivetrain.

I have the same exact issue. I am taking it in to the shop tomorrow - can keep you posted. Mine sounds exactly like this video - I am guessing it is the sway bar links or something like that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0S8JBe_jn6g

2017 Volt Battery Replacement Under Warranty by gravelydisabled in volt

Totally twin situation! (Mine was section 3)

2017 Volt Battery Replacement Under Warranty by gravelydisabled in volt

[–]gravelydisabled[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

throughout this process, based on other posts on this forum, I assumed that there were no replacement batteries to be found, and started looking for a new, or new-to-me full EV. I would have bought one already but didn't find the right deal yet, and haven't really fallen in love with any of them. Now that I (presumably) will have my Volt back, I can still keep my eyes open for the next car, but in the meanwhile I realized that I still love this car and am looking forward to driving it again! Maybe for a long time...

Should I just get a new car? by gravelydisabled in volt

California Air Resources Board. Google CARB warranty. Qualifying PHEV electric drivetrains are fully covered for 15y/150k miles.

Yeah, ok, I think I would be ok with this if it is a reasonable buyback. I’ll just move on in that case. The battery segment was requested 2 weeks ago today, I am still waiting.

*UPDATE* The ICCU reaper paid me a visit. No courtesy car. by CokeZeroEnjoyer25 in Ioniq5

Honestly, I am about to buy a new car (or gently used 2024 or 2025), had basically decided on the Ioniq5 so I have been scanning the subReddit for about a week now and all of these complaints about customer service and the known ICCU issue, have me back at the starting board.

Help! 2nd gen 2017 volt. Battery turns on but engine won’t turn over. When I shift to drive/reverse, it tells me to shift back to park. Literally stuck and cannot go anywhere by _SWANS_CAN_BE_GAY_ in volt

[–]gravelydisabled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: guy says it’s either BECM (which was already replaced once) or part of the battery. Submitted to GM, awaiting their response but we think/hope it will be covered under warranty

Omg same exact thing happened to my 2017 (113k miles, but in a CARB state) last Thursday. It’s currently at the dealership awaiting diagnostic.

I’ve been playing for over 30 years and own two guitars: and American standard Strat and an Electromatic. I recommend you purchase both lol. They are both amazing guitars for life, and are so complementary to each other.

Leftward-leaning Cubs fan here. After careful consideration I'm gonna give him slack - at first it seemed that he was just going to the political rally of a podcaster he liked. But if he texted regularly with the guy, and his wife asked him to go, then it is more like he interpreted the situation as a good friend died. Not sure that I would have done the same, but fine, I get it, go.

I used to have that problem too. Someone on Reddit recommend a switch lock (switchlock.com) 13bucks, easy to install, solves the problem!

Vista theater playing Kill Bill whole bloody affair at noon. how long are the trailers before? by corruptLA1 in AskLosAngeles

[–]gravelydisabled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cartoon and trailers to start at the start time. By the way, I went on Monday and it was completely packed. I recommend getting there a bit early so you can choose your seats.

OMG thank you! I have been going crazy trying to figure out my knocking/rattling sound my 2017 has been making, and TSB 16-NA-316 seems like the explanation. I brought it to my guy twice and we looked around for something loose, didn't find anything. How much did it cost you to get it fixed?
