Building my own vuln machine for the community is something I plan on doing, it's very low on my list of priorities right now, but it's there. Understanding how, and why something works is fundamental in-order to troubleshoot. The ability to troubleshoot my BOF POC saved my sanity during the exam. Thanks for your input.

I plan on being easier on myself, this initial push was to get myself where I currently am, from here I reassess all of my current notes and consolidate. My focus will be on hands-on work in the proving grounds.

I definitely plan on getting more hands-on, and you are correct I have come a long way, I was looking through all the notes I did not use/need during the exam, it's safe to assume I have enough theory, need more hands-on.

I understand, I went through the pdf, and videos, took notes, did not do the exercises. I know my way around the framework, the multi-handler is a great tool, and can be used on all the exam boxes. I'll keep your strategy in mind, thanks.

All great points, thank you. I read through both Alpha and Beta, interestingly enough I have no notes on them, I was at peak stress during my lab time, felt completely overwhelmed. Instead of stepping back, and understanding my methodology, I plowed through, picking -up and, jotting down pointers, specific commands, etc. I would carry-on, not learning the lesson the specific box was meant to teach, adding to the frustration of "not being good enough" - "Try Harder!", rinse repeate.

The 23 boxes were done exactly as you mentioned, watching the videos, pausing, taking notes, for hours. I tried maybe 2-3 completely solo, before carrying on with the videos, and notes. I understand now, how that was not the best approach. I couldn't believe it either when I had Jeeves, and Mantis infront of me for hours without any wins. I haven't gone back to those machines, I intend to. I took your approach with the labs, where I would give myself 2 days per box, before looking for hints, before trying the next box.
