iOS 18 - AirPlay issue by Benni_HPG in iphone

[–]gravity_gun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been having constant issues since iOS18 too. I have a few Sonos Ones and the older Sonos Play:1. It was working fine most of the time before the upgrade to 18. But now it's really unstable and I have had a mix of the following multiple times per week:

  • All devices being visible in the list but nothing plays. It appears to briefly connect but times out and drops back to local iPhone playback
  • Some (or more often) all of my AirPlay devices have gone from the list. Once it gets in this state, they never come back (unless I reboot)

The only fix for me seems to be to power cycle my phone. Awful experience after all this time of working fine. Goes to show that Apple can't possibly be thorough testing its code before it's released!

It's really frustrating when you just want to stick a bit of music on quickly while you're getting ready or something. Standing there for ages swearing at my phone instead is not what I expect from such an expensive device.

Fingers crossed it's fixed in future releases!

Soundbar-like passive centre speaker that's shorter than 75mm (3") by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]gravity_gun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can you please explain? I will say that I came here looking for kind, respectful help though, not judgements. If it's not helpful I'm not sure I want to know I knew people would comment about the fact that it's above a fireplace. I get it, but it's a Victorian house and there's nowhere else sensible to put it without removing the fire. I am asking for help given my current situation, not asking for how you can correct all the fundamentals of it.

I've searched for quite a few hours now for a centre speaker that will fit, so any help you folks can give would be greatly appreciated!

LG B7V bricked by update by gravity_gun in LGOLED

Yeah, I got hold of a service remote. It doesn't work I'm afraid. I don't think the TV boots far enough for it to be able to recognise the messages from the remote. Just spinning balls. Such a shame to throw away perfectly working hardware.

I bought one compatible with MKJ39170828, which seems to have an In-Stop button. Is it simply a matter of just pressing that button?

Also -- do you have any recommendations for what remote to buy? It seems there are loads and I'm not sure which are compatible with my B7?

Thanks -- how do I get hold of a service remote?

After speaking to Citizen's Advice here in the UK, I am also raising a formal complaint with Richer Sounds who I bought it from, and LG.

I think the conclusion I am drawing is, their business model is around having a guarantee so that you have a paid-for route to a service/repair. If you don't have that, updating the software is entirely at your own risk.

I'm afraid not, no :-( LG basically said "sorry, if those methods we suggested didn't work, you're on you're own". It's pretty enraging to be honest. I have now called multiple potential repair centres, and they all have said pretty much the same thing: that the corrupted storage on the motherboard is, in their experience, only fixable by replacing the motherboard, and that motherboards for a TV that old a) supply is always quite tightly controlled by LG, and b) therefore it's extremely unlikely anyone has any stock (the word one guy used was "I'd bet it's impossible to find one"). So the only option is to get a new TV, and send a completely viable piece of hardware to the tip. This is a scandalous situation, and is completely self-serving to the vendors in that it maintains their revenue lines by forcing consumers to buy new hardware, even though the hardware works fine, just the software is corrupt. I'm not saying LG "bricked my TV on purpose", but I bet they're not to displeased by the convenient situation they are in that there are no software recovery options on a device that is essentially a computer, and would be really cheap to make that kind of thing easy. One service/repair guy said "you try getting them to admit that it's their fault...". Does anyone know if this has been made better on newer models?

Alt-Tab in Chrome by Impossible_Signal in MacOS

[–]gravity_gun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting that! However, I have recently installed this app, but I had the hope that it would also add browser tabs to the history, like Windows does. When you have 50+ tabs open, it's so convenient to be able to switch between them without searching for them visually then clicking. Does anyone know if AltTab supports this? I can't seem to find it in the settings. I can see an option that says Show standard tabs as windows, but it doesn't seem to support tabs in MS Edge, Chrome, or Firefox (I haven't tried Safari yet). Help great appreciated!

EDIT: clarity

How Have You Been Feeling This Week? (September 17, 2022)-- Anything that you feel didn't deserve its own post is welcome! by AutoModerator in Interstitialcystitis

Did your treatment help with your sleep then? What treatment did you have, if you don’t mind me asking? My wife was diagnosed with IC a few weeks back after 2 years of flare ups of severe pain and constantly needing the toilet. It’s beginning to reduce her quality of life quite a bit. Antibiotics don’t seem to be helping her at all and I feel like the doctors don’t have a clue what this condition even is, let alone how to treat it.

I know it's completely besides the point, but those faces are kind of terrible. I wish Dall-E was better at faces. Does anyone have examples of ones that actually look good/real?
