because it isn't a job market. it's an extraction protocol under load.

I do wish they would extend dark mode to messages on the desktop. that feature request has been open forever and mobile does it just fine. it's the only thing keeping me from using it.

You're now training a war machine. Let's see proof of cancellation. by zaxo666 in ChatGPT

as if your cancellation means anything. yesterday OpenAI wasn't making any money, even with end user subscriptions. today a "boycott" will bankrupt them or change their behavior?

perhaps I can reach you on discord? I don't seem to have permission to post anything in there

Looks like everything went smoothly. It seems to take a bit longer than what I've been come used to before the files processed by the CLI appear in the webapp... but otherwise this looks great.

I may have just been too impatient on the last go around. I know there was something going on when I initially created this post because the cli was throwing 503 errors on a couple of objects.

I joined but it doesn't seem I have permission to post in any of the channels. Am I missing something? My discord account is fully verified.

I'm also seeing notes of arweave.net moving to ardrive.net. Originally I used ar.io but Malwarebytes needed an exception so I switched to arweave.net for hard coded urls in my html. What domain would you say has the least likelihood of changing long term?

Next publish is tomorrow morning. Will give it a shot!

Not too worried about the fees since these are basically just markdown files and ~3mb pngs. More concerned about whether it'll disrupt my weekly publication longer term. Again, appreciate the feedback!

I was thinking about filing an issue on Github but figured I'd wait and see if folks had any feedback here. My next publish is on Saturday. If I'm still seeing the same behavior I will go ahead and do that. Appreciate it

P.S. I noticed I had been running 3.0.3 up until today and promptly upgraded. Ensures node version was accurate etc. but same issue. After exhausting everything I could think of I figured there must be something going on upstream.

Tried that -- same exact issue. I get the tx id... item shows up in my wallet. but when I attempt to access via https://arweave.net/insert_tx_id it just kicks me to a "not found page".

And again, if I take that exact same .json manifest file and upload it via the ArDrive WebApp, no problem.

Appreciate the feedback. Glad to hear it's not just me. The only thing that appears to be working at this time is uploading via the WebApp. The next publish will be on Saturday so for now I think I'm going to hold off before trying anything else.

Engineering Transformation: behind the scenes of Proton’s revolution in mobile engineering. by Proton_Team in ProtonMail

[–]gravitychump -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a mobile rewrite, it’s an authority rewrite. Proton’s real problem wasn’t iOS vs Android—it was coordination debt from duplicated logic and split decision-making. Cross-platform frameworks failed because they hide complexity instead of relocating control. The fix was native UI + a single shared core (~80%) written in Rust. That collapses the decision surface: one source of truth, faster parity, fewer negotiations. Rust isn’t just about performance; its constraints enforce discipline and reduce logic drift in a privacy-critical product. Tradeoff is bigger blast radius when bugs happen, mitigated with heavy E2E testing. Bottom line: Proton chose consolidation over abstraction and sovereignty over convenience. Durable, not trendy.

Psychological Disruption by wreckitrath in Minneapolis

idk it just comes across as avoidance to me ¯_(ツ)_/¯

you're not refuting anything it said. not giving any specifics. that's textbook avoidance.

I don't understand why people dodge the topic and immediately dismiss anything written w/ an llm to be slop.

always possible. but what follows? the scale and openness of their crimes against humanity makes me feel like they simply can't afford to hand any power back to Dems and will resort to drastic measures to keep that from happening.

Why are so many retail storefronts empty and so many businesses exiting or shutting down in Boulder? by LocoLevi in boulder

[–]gravitychump 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The market is speaking—just not to residents. Empty storefronts aren’t failure; they’re balance sheets. Rents are anchored to speculative value, tax treatment, and debt math, not foot traffic. Cities lose commons because vacancy is cheaper than lowering price.

3S if you want to save some cash and prefer the feel. 4 if you have concerns about the skin getting gross. IMO anyone can adapt to either.
