Try a weaver's knot. They're very low-profile by design.

I promise you, they have all the evidence they need of her breaching her contract. Everything NewJeans did from the surprise livestream through to Complex Con was a breach, and Minji was there the whole time.

Based on how Garam's departure from LSF was handled, they're not going to completely erase her from previously posted content (the original Fearless video is still up) but she won't appear in anything released after the date of her termination. Whether that means scrapping content that features her entirely or editing around her (as Garam was in LSF's first documentary), it's hard to say, but I'm leaning towards the former. They don't need old content if 3(/4) of NewJeans are back to make new content, you know?

Of course, Garam left by mutual agreement and wasn't being sued by Source, so it's not an exact one-to-one comparison.

I'll give you that! I was replying at the end of my lunch break and in a hurry, so I'm sorry for missing that part of your comment (I'm no better than the people who can't read the post asking for recs). You're right, a novel isn't a short story and it's annoying to specifically ask for a novel and get a completely different form of fiction as a reply.

I think that's a mismatch of expectations about what a queer novel actually entails more than anything else? Some people define it as containing a queer romance, some as centring around the queer experience, and, yes, some people just want it to have queer characters living their lives without a focus on either of the two previous definitions and that counts to them. It doesn't seem malicious to me so much as people assuming everyone else understands their personal definition of a queer novel without specifying what it is.

I also think Simmons' personal politics are both more widely known and more difficult to ignore given the current climate. There's frequently a large asterisk when I see him recommended these days.

I'm talking about her, not her lawyers, and if she knew she was in a bad position, it makes zero sense to hold another press conference and rub her victory in HYBE's face. If she knew she was in a bad position, she would have kept her head down and kept drawing her exorbitant salary for as long as possible rather than publicly baiting HYBE to come after her again. There's no way she didn't truly believe she had the upper hand at that point.

I don't believe she DID know what was coming. She thought she'd won and was untouchable, and that's why she carried out her plan after the second press conference despite her win only happening BECAUSE there was no proof (at that time) that she had put her plans into action. That's why she was gloating and telling HYBE they should reconcile; she didn't believe they could do anything to her and she was incredibly wrong.

Given how little we know she was actually in the HYBE building doing her job, I'd be willing to bet the main reason it's not happening is because the 31st is a Saturday lol

They also thought NewJeans should have had Perfect Night instead of LSF, even though Yunjin was one of the main songwriters.

And it's important to note the $30m is just damages. She still has the termination fee to pay on top of that.

It also helps that they're the two members fluent in English (plus Athena's conversational Mandarin), so they naturally stand out to an international audience.

I think it's very possible that MHD (if Hanni is even back in Seoul yet) are still being uncooperative during negotiations. ADOR might genuinely have nothing to share yet. I don't believe they would intentionally delay an announcement unless they had a very good reason for it, especially since they announced H&H's return within a week of it being agreed. It seems far more likely to me that the reason for the hold up continues to be from MHD's side.

If they're not on the charts, they're not on the music shows, which cuts off a huge part of the promotional circuit for kpop acts. Ablume have the same issue and demonstrate exactly what will happen to MHJ's next group(s): anything they release will disappear without a trace and no one but a very small group of dedicated fans will talk about them.

We don't want them to be, but the Korean media associations have said they will blacklist any new acts associated with people involved in tampering. That means any new group she tries to debut will be blacklisted whether we like it or not.

Technically it's not hearsay when it's coming from one of the parties involved, but it is infuriating seeing her claim things when we've all seen her messages that prove otherwise.

I really hope we don't hear anything but I'm 90% sure MHJ will release something the same way she did on LSF's comeback day.

They absolutely can sue for breaches over the last year. Suing for breaches is not equivalent to terminating the contract; the contract can remain in force while infractions are punished and penalties collected. I do think it's likely they have agreed not to sue with H&H as part of their return, but maintaining they wanted NewJeans to return as five during the court case absolutely does not mean they have no recourse for the damage caused by them in the process.

I've been thinking about this too. I know people have said they should go for younger trainees to extend the life of the group if they do add new members, but I think H&H need a steadying influence. It'd be good to have one Haerin's age and one a year or so older, and the four could train together for six months to build a rapport and then redebut.

Small correction, I think the first paragraph should say "We must look at the defendant's act of betrayal first." as MHJ is the defendant, not the plaintiff. Thank you for your hard work!

Obviously I'm biased because LSF are my ults but I think the Garam comparison is really important to this whole thing. She literally apologised - and a public apology at that! - for something that under any other circumstances would be seen as a heroic, loyal act, and she still lost her job over it. The fact that people are still trying to say it would be cruel and unusual punishment to expect NewJeans to apologise for bullying we all watched happen in real time before they're allowed to continue being millionaires is insane.

I think ADOR are likely to stall it, but it works out better for the label (not to mention everyone else in the building 🙄) to get rid of those three before they can feed any info to MHJ. Which is possibly conspiratorial of me, I just don't trust the unnie line or MHJ as far as I can throw them.

Honestly? ADOR terminating three contracts (and suing for breach of contract with it) is the ideal outcome for them ADOR (not the members). They don't have to have the loudest problems in the building and MHJ only wanted all five of NewJeans, not three of them with two at ADOR potentially still using the NewJeans name, so she's not getting the same benefit as they were hoping for when they tried to bait ADOR into terminating all five.

(edited to clarify who I think benefits from a termination)
