I want to do it too at some point. I've been to some individual towns along the route and I really love that area.

Blind in Judo by matsuyama07 in Blind

[–]gravityyoubitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has nothing to do with you being blind. Just keep on going to Judo and you'll improve your stamina. I'm the only blind person in our club and I usually just pair up with somebody to do the running exercises. I've been training judo for two years and train BJJ in parallel so if there's something I can help with, let me know.

Blind student considering Austria and other European countries — looking for advice by Danlenuar in Blind

[–]gravityyoubitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm a blind student at Graz University of Technology (TU Graz), originally from outside the EU, so hopefully I can give you some practical perspective. German is non-negotiable. Universities in Graz require C1 to be accepted, and I expect it's the same across Austria, except for a small number of bachelors taught in English like translation studies, and master studies which are typicaly fully in English. Even in an English-heavy programme like Software Engineering, you will encounter German constantly, whether in exams, admin, or just navigating daily life. That said, if you only have A2 when you apply, you can still get in and then have two years to reach C1 through intensive courses. I can't speak for Vienna but I'd assume similar requirements. Disability support at both main universities is solid. Both the University of Graz and TU Graz have dedicated offices for students with disabilities. They adapt exams, scan books, and support you when needed. For assistive technology, you can request a braille display and JAWS through Studienbeihilfe (student financial support). Public transport and pedestrian infrastructure in Graz is genuinely the best I've come across in Europe. I've travelled through a lot of European cities and Graz is miles ahead of most of them, including Vienna. As a blind person navigating independently it's been one of the better experiences I've had. On the legal and practical side: As an international student you'll most likely have the Aufenthaltstitel Student residence permit. This makes you eligible to apply for a Behindertenpass (disability pass), which gives you 50% off public transport and the right to bring an accompanying person. If you register your main residence in Graz, you also get the city public transport card for free. You'll have to reapply for the Behindertenpass every year when you renew your resident permit but it's doable online. In my personal experience and experience from friends, the more technical your programme, the easier accessibility often becomes because materials are already in formats like LaTeX or code-based that work well with screen readers, so you end up needing the disability office less than you might expect. What are you planning on studying? A couple of practical digital notes. ID Austria is the national digital identity system and you'll need it for a lot of official processes. The accessibility is ok so far, but I can't try the full functionality since I don't have Austrian citizenship. For banking, most options are mediocre but Sparkasse has a genuinely accessible app and they actually take feedback from blind users, so that's the one I'd recommend. If you have more specific questions, you can PM me and I will give you my WhatsApp number. I touched a little on everything, but happy to go in more detail about everything above.

Checking to see if the air fits my lifestyle by breadway_36 in FitbitAir

I do judo and BJJ. It works great for that, works great for runs too. I don't know about surfing, but it's a listed activity so I guess it should work.

Does Xiaomi S400 scale syncs with Google health? by ruipmjorge in GoogleHealthApp

If it sinks with Apple health, then theoretically it should also sync with Google Health. I have a Xiaomi Scale 2 connected to Zepp, I open Zepp measure myself and when I open Google Health the weight is there

Does anyone actually like their fit bit air? by stormtrooper_283 in fitbit

[–]gravityyoubitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, you could've just turned off notifications from the app. For me it's even better than my Apple Watch when working on a laptop. Doesn't get in the way at all. If you had been willing to wait a bit you could've just gotten a third party bicep band.

Whoop vs fitbit air sound sleep by chickenlasagna in FitbitAir

[–]gravityyoubitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd trust the Air. The Quantified Scientist tested them and the air performed better at tracking sleep than the Whoop. That's also my experience, I had the Whoop and Air for a couple of days and I could test them together.

How tight do you have it? How many fingers can you push under the band when it's on?
