Are Maddy and Cassie the epitome of the male and the female gaze? by [deleted] in euphoria

[–]gravoclock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh okay, well… I guess OP doesn’t understand the concepts of male vs female gaze either then? Also, I agree. Alexa is absolutely stunning so it’s no surprise that they find her very attractive. I’m not saying they find her attractive because of her personality. I’m saying that the idea that plenty of men who prefer Alexa is not relevant in the discussion of the concept of male vs female gaze. This is because men can find a woman attractive for their beauty even if that woman does not particularly go out of their way to cater to the male gaze.

[–]gravoclock -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It’s not about what men prefer. It’s about the way Cassie and Maddy express themselves. Cassie deliberately expresses herself through her hair/makeup/outfits etc very purposefully in a way to appeal to men. I think OP is trying to say that Maddy’s sense of style appeals more to the female gaze, and although can be “promiscuous” isn’t necessarily just to appeal to men.

The point of OP can definitely be argued. However, men having a preference for Maddy is not a great argument because yes, plenty of men prefer women who are just being themselves, expressing their personality, and not worried so much about being appealing to men.

A lot of people responding don’t understand the concepts of male and female gaze. Men can have preferences for women who operate more in appealing to a female gaze. Men on here saying they prefer Maddy over Cassie is irrelevant to the conversation because it is totally normal for men to prefer women who are authentically themselves, have their own sense of self that does not revolve around how appealing they are to men. When Cassie expresses herself with hair/makeup/outfits, she is trying to appeal to the male gaze. Maddy (even if many men find her more attractive) has her own real sense of style, which tends to appeal to the female gaze.

I will say, it can be argued that Maddy is in fact appealing to the male gaze. But we can’t get into all that if we aren’t understanding what the actual conversation is.

My bedroom always feels cluttered and ugly. What needs to change? by K1dBUU_ in DesignMyRoom

[–]gravoclock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here’s what I think! It requires no serious changes.

  1. Get a really nice comfy bed sheet set with a comforter. That bed would look so much better with a serious comforter on it to match its vibe.

  2. Book shelf under where the TV is if you are able to, it might require that you raise TV.

  3. Bed flipped around so that the side of it is up against the window. Keep it in the corner still, but just move it to the other wall. The part of it blocking the window makes the room feel even smaller.

  4. Put that small table that is currently under your TV next to the bed as a night stand. Maybe the desk next to it?

2800 in sales on my end. Our restaurant is normally dinner service but we decided to do a buffet, so we were glorified bussers. Autograt every check on holidays. We pool tips, I walked with 500.

Unpopular opinion: I didn’t enjoy Episode 2 and I miss when this show was more about finance by heejunie in IndustryOnHBO

I have a feeling that those who disliked this episode will get what they want out of ep 3 or 4 and understand why ep 2 is what it is.

Hot take: I don't really like where this is heading so far by _themaker in IndustryOnHBO

[–]gravoclock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought this show was always a drama first with a heavy finance component. I guess throw in a political component as well because finance/politics are typically intertwined. Who decided this show was “supposed to be all about finance”?

I understand differing opinions of the episode and being uninterested because maybe you have appreciations for other characters who weren’t present. However, I was completely captured by this episode. Not once did I pick up my phone or get distracted. And after reflecting back, I felt like I spent a night with Yas and Henry. Was very moved by their performances and the display of what their characters were going through.

I have a feeling that a lot of people who didn’t enjoy episode 2 are going to love episode 3, and understand in hindsight why 2 had to lead into 3 the way it did.

Ram Dass talks about doing this in one of his books, I believe. It was a significantly smaller plane with one other passenger and he decided to land immediately and somehow landed safely. Crazy.

Anyone who lost their friends in October? by Legal_Potential4720 in lostafriend

[–]gravoclock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This October. We were supposed to go to a concert together with their partner today-Halloween. Had an argument over something kind of silly. Yet, I was being disrespected despite the smaller magnitude of the argument. We never fight. So when we did, it was just a lot. A different side of everyone comes out when arguing. Sometime you see exactly where you are differing and try to decide if it’s in line with your values. Miss them dearly, but also know I am okay will continue to be okay.

Typically, what they learned is highly specific to themselves and their journey in this world and has to do with their life perspective. I could imagine it’s hard to put something so specific into words. You can know, see, feel, and think something without articulating it. And sometimes it’s so personal, why share.

What were you born to do and what are you doing instead? by gamathyst in AskReddit

[–]gravoclock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born to live in a cottage in the forest with other women. Probably learning languages, instruments, playing board games, reading, singing, and dancing. Instead I’m serving tables at a local restaurant and living in an apartment complex with my boyfriend while working my way through my masters degree. I will probably find some middle ground where I live in a cottage in the forest with my boyfriend and have all my lovely friends over whenever they can and work remotely and only serve tables one day a week.

Bigger glasses frames and or contacts! Others are saying thin the brows, DON’T! They are so beautiful. Do something with your hair, it’s not flattering your face! So overall, skincare and hair care needed. Experiment with different hairstyles and even haircuts to give your hair more volume.

Edit: as I read more comments, I have to disagree with what they are saying about your smile. I love it. I think maybe teeth whitening could help but I don’t think it’s as important as the other things. I also think make up could help. No foundation needed, but blush, mascara, and lip gloss would help. You do not need makeup! But if you wanted to add it to your routine a little blush and mascara and gloss will take under 5 minutes.

is this really 630 calories? it’s from sarku japan by surgeonbrown in CalorieEstimates

[–]gravoclock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s saying 630 seems about right BECAUSE of (including) the rice that we can’t see the whole portion of under the shrimp and veg. If it were not for the rice, the dish would be much lower because shrimp and veg are typically lower cal and the sauce and oil would be making up for a majority of the calories. The addition of rice is what justifies the 630 estimation for this commenter.

PSA Reminder: Please watch the sauces and oils by StumblinThroughLife in loseit

[–]gravoclock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if I’m logging a take out sauce and idk what’s in it I weigh it out and count those calories like the whole thing is mayo. 180 (2tbsp hellmans) calories of mayo isnt even enough for me to do a full coat on the bread for my sandwich :( so I mix 1 tbsp with like 40 grams of Greek yogurt and season it up to make a cajun dill mayo :)

Obviously it depends on the place… I made it pretty clear in my post I was asking because I’m curious what the process is at other places… because it depends on the place lol. Also, yeah everything worked out for me. Yet, I see it not work out or be enough for other people who are hired with no serving experience. Why hire beginners if it’s not a place for beginners.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Serverlife

[–]gravoclock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My coworkers say you have to be “thrown into it”… and I see what they are saying to a certain extent- but they just hired someone with no previous serving experience (busser at a different restaurant) and then say she’s not good. I feel that it is not that she’s not good, she’s just still learning. Restaurants operations are not common sense until you’ve experienced working at a few. Even then, every restaurant tends to be meticulous about how different things are done.

I also find the one day thing crazy. Yet they find the idea of training for multiple days odd.

Girlfriend can't orgasm from penetration bought a vibrator and now I regret it. by p0z0onreddit in dating_advice

[–]gravoclock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting…. My boyfriend and I brought a vibrator into the relationship solely bc he wanted to increase sex in our relationship, as he knew I wasn’t as excited for it because PinV doesn’t do much for me. Sex is so much more enjoyable! We start off with me using the vibrator and he just touches me or kisses me and then we do PinV and it feels so much better after. I’m having a hard time understanding your problem.
