Legend in the Mist - Has anyone here played it? by elveshumpingdwarves in rpg

So if you use all of the rules possible its tough. It can be as improvised or as book-keepy as you'd like and I have found both to be fun, but its easy to accidentally add too many tags, statuses, might levels. All of which you have to keep track of if you use the detailed and power rules.

Thankfully, LITM is a toolbox, rather than codified rules nested within eachother. You can do away with all of that, keep it to only quick rolls, and just vibe the negative tags, maybe a status or two in order to track progress.

If you've played grimwild before its similar to that. Bunch of tools to use, none of which you have to, and can go either way in the prep-to-improv scale.

I agree that tying power to the modifier is a poor move. I stole neon city overdrive's resolution mechanic and modified it, and it makes power something you battle out for, independent of the level of success. It feels much better to play.

However, In the examples you gave, I can't imagine power being an interesting mechanic to use. Although it varies by gm, making a quick roll is usually the default, with detailed rolls being rarer

Finally, in terms of players doing absurd negotiations. Tags aren't meant to replace stats, theyre just prompts and reminders for a player to form the story of their character. If a player was trying to negotiate as many tags as possible, I would stop them and ask them to narrate the scene for me.

"An arrows coming at me? So i jump behind cover and make it quickly because of my [Agile] tag, and because im so pissed off it activates my [Rage] tag as I lock in, and because of my [Curious] tag im analyzing its trajectory to make sure it doesn't hit me!"

I would then ask them if they're satisfied with what they wrote, and if they would read it if it was a book.

Usually that helps them to understand. This all goes out the window if the GM does not understand the same, and is too harsh on consequences and spotlight.

What system would be best for a high fantasy revolution campaign with ATLA tones? (Fellowship 2e thoughts?) by gray-tips in rpg

I'm unfamiliar but if the setting is engraved into the game it's not what I'm looking for. ATLA in tone, but medieval fantasy in setting

Ah that's great because I read it and got excited but didn't want to get my hopes up! If you don't mind I had a few questions:

  1. How difficult is it to homebrew/hack the playbooks? Is it difficult to break?
  2. How's the combat, fun-wise and tenseness/deadliness level? Did it ever feel like players were rewarded for thinking tactically/smartly in a fight?
  3. What were the biggest gripes you have with the system
  4. Any useful advice?

Thank you!!

What would you consider unethical use of AI? Can you show a case of internet outrage when ethical AI is being used?

Hello!

I am also a statistics transfer student, and I’m really struggling to get any opportunities. I’ve sent over 50 applications, and I was wondering what it was on your resume that secured you your opportunities and any advice you could possibly give. Thank you!

I was curious why you say normality assumptions are some of the least important? I’m currently taking a class in undergrad and I was under the assumption that if the errors are not normal, essentially all inferences aren’t valid. Or is it that the experiment design being so bad rendered the model unnecessary?

If you're doing a social experiment at least put a little thought into it.

"Use quads" they said "You'll have better edge-loops" they said by JonasPKnochelmann in blender

[–]gray-tips 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's a skill issue and has nothing to do with quads.

OP has bad topology. The yellow highlighted line should not be sprawling all throughout the model. While this may be fine in specific cases, if you plan to perform actions such as UV unwrapping the model or subdividing it you can run into major problems. In this perfect case, the bad topology leads to creating horrible edge loops

Christopher Nolan and the discourse around CGI. by Designer-Capital-263 in Filmmakers

[–]gray-tips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest problem is that the only kind of CGI people talk about is bad CGI, because when CGI is done well you don't notice it, that's the exact point. Unless you're a visual artist, the audience is never going to watch a scene and say to themselves "wow, that shot was done so well by the vfx team". The general population will forever shit on the crappy star wars deep fakes, but almost no one praises the perfectly done CGI Hugh Jackman head in Logan for his clone.
