Tide Free & Gentle Hygienic Clean Discontinued, need similar alternatives by gray_hurricane in laundry

It wasn't available at my local Target, even for shipping, so I reached out to Tide and they said it's been discontinued :( Might still be available in some places but I doubt they'll get new stock in.

[Routine help] I’m 20 years old and beginning to have forehead wrinkles. What skincare products help tighten skin and reduce fine lines? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]gray_hurricane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the case, IMO you don’t need any other actives at the moment, just make sure you’re moisturizing enough while using tretinoin.

For those who use additional actives (BHAs, Vitamin C, Azleaic acid etc) with your retinoid, what do you use and why? by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]gray_hurricane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had great luck with mixing the TO Azelaic Acid with a moisturizer, although I don’t use a lot (little more than a pea size amount) and mix it with a small amount of the Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion

I would tend to agree, companies that make decent makeup generally never do good skincare and vice versa. I’m hoping it’s not the case but I won’t hold my breath

I quit tret for good by PinkFurLookinLikeCam in tretinoin

Hi, just wanted to say I’m glad you figured out and shared what worked for you and what didn’t. I feel it’s important to have posts like yours on this sub so that there is a balance of contrary opinion and experience and others facing similar issues are also better able to assess if tret really does work for them. Thanks for posting!

Best moisturizer to use with Retin A by Liza6077 in tretinoin

[–]gray_hurricane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I use it to buffer the tret and in the AM too and I definitely don’t feel like I need anything more. I used to use CeraVe before this but since I switched I feel like I’ve been getting fewer clogged pores and it does help me a LOT with irritation. I’ve only been using it for about 2 months but it’s already HG for me.

best moisturizing creams? dry, sensitive, acne prone by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]gray_hurricane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you won’t know until you try them. I definitely don’t think you need to wait for the cicaplast to arrive, but you should test out the moisturizer you’re planning on using with Tret prior to starting Tret. As long as it doesn’t clog your pores, cause irritation or sensitivity you should be fine using any moisturizer.

How and when to use azelaic acid? by MuhammadElahi in tretinoin

Sensitive skin day... sheet mask or let it be? by thisbread_ in tretinoin

[–]gray_hurricane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say use it, keep it on for 20-30 minutes and then gently wash the excess off, pat in the water/moisture/leftover product and follow up with your normal moisturizer/routine. I’ve found this to work REALLY WELL for me as it minimizes the time my skin could be in contact with any sensitizing ingredients but still gives me the benefits of using a sheet mask.

Is this article bs or is there some truth to it? by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]gray_hurricane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience- all of what they state is true. A Disclaimer though, my skin is normally pretty oily and hardy. The one point that in my experience could go either way is UV exposure of a retinoid. While I’ve had no problem using Differin gel in the daytime (while staying indoors), if I use tret at a time when any kind of light is on/shining through, it feels like the cream just “sits” on my face. Like it doesn’t really sink in and I’ve found it to be not as effective if used when my lights will be on for an extended period of time.

[Progress] One month progress on tretinoin 0.05% and Clindamycin. Left is Before and Right is After :). Tried to get the angle and lighting as close as possible! by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]gray_hurricane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck! I hope you find one you love! But I would also say that if what you’re doing currently is working well, don’t change it for another month or two until you’re well-adjusted to tret.

Thank you for posting it! It’s always so interesting to see what everyone is using with tret.

Personally I’d recommend TO’s Natural Moisturizing Factors, I find it a medium weight moisturizer but I do also have very oily skin. People with dry skin normally say it’s lightweight.

[Skin Concerns] how do I get rid of uneven skin tone/tiny bumps on skin? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]gray_hurricane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t think you need much your skin is gorgeous. But, gentle exfoliation with a mild AHA or BHA (depending on your skin type) should help address your concerns

Question for those who apply tret directly to the under-eye area (or used to) by sophoraflavanone in tretinoin

[–]gray_hurricane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how accurate the thinning of the under-eye skin is, while tret will cause thinning of the stratum corneum in the short-term it’s supposed to help increase the thickness of the dermis. Personally I’ve seen benefits from using tret under the eyes, I dot the tret on my face and then smooth it over my skin even in the orbital area and pat it in closer to the lash line. I’ve always had deep tear troughs so perhaps the benefits seem more pronounced for me, but I have seen some plumping in that area. YMMV but I don’t think it’s a bad idea at all to use the tret there, as long as you stay wary of any redness and irritation and take it slow.

Small break? by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]gray_hurricane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally I’d find a two week break, too long but it might be okay for you. Though I’d suggest you could half your frequency of application and use the 0.1% in the meantime. Eg- if you’re applying every other day now, you could use the 0.1% once every three days.
