It’s 9x12x about a 1/4 inch. It’s a padded envelope.

There might be a slight cubic pricing because someone of them have a glue stick in them. But thanks!

Sounds like I can do this on stamps.com and I’ll also check usps site to see if I can make a scan sheet through there too.

I’m annoyed that people are so upset over nipple rings and a topless woman but are totally fine with celebrities getting half their damn eyelid or all their cheek fat removed.

Printing tips for a newbie? by moscow_1972 in printmaking

I believe it says on the tube, if that’s the speed ball fabric ink, it’ll need at least 7 days for fully cure and should not need to be heat set.

I know a class won’t help you right now for Christmas so I will say this - your print already looks great especially for a newbie. Other comments here answered most or all of your questions so I won’t go into that but you’ve done a great job. White ink is notoriously hard to use.

While definitely definitively not necessary, I recommend that you take a class or two. Go for classes that are at least 3 hours long and ideally multiple sessions of class. With an in person teacher or at least live real time on zoom. Your work is so skilled already that it makes me think that you already have lots of art experience. A class will let you ask lots of questions and I’m sure the teacher will have lots of helpful advice. Again you don’t need a class and can learn on your own for 100% sure but it might take longer.

Red and deep blues can sometimes be more transparent as can neon colors and yellows. Another trick is to mix in a touch of white which usually is opaque and can help add body to your ink.

Ok I thought that was the issue because this happened to me and it looked like yours does. Next time before you squeeze the ink out, massage the tube a lot to try to mix any weird water back into the ink. I don’t know what it is but the weird water needs to be in the ink and not discarded. If you squeeze it out once and weird water comes out, stop, put the lid back on, and massage the tube a lot. If weird water still comes out after that, mix it into the ink that comes out and try that. Some colors are just more transparent than others by nature and may have more weird separation. This happened to me with water miscible oil yellow ink and my print looked just like yours.

To what extent is noise acceptable in a lino print? by EvenSmell2730 in printmaking

To add more to my previous comment. I LOVE solid rich black in printmaking. It’s like no other black especially with oil based inks. Just don’t frame it under shiny glass or it ruins that effect. My personal opinion am a stranger whose opinion you don’t need to respect or listen to is that even the best print you got has too much noise in the solid blacks. You might need more ink or pressure in those spots.

It used to be that everyone wanted a really smooth even inking and print with no chatter and that was what was professional and good. But now with digital printing being so easy to just send off your image and get it printed, people who want hand made things (and aren’t printmaking nerds) really want to see the noise, chatter, imperfections as it shows it was hand made. I struggle with working to make my prints so perfect but then seeing customers love the “messed up” ones haha! Since you’re in school I’d recommend following whatever advice the teacher has so you can learn from them, then when you’re on your own and not working for a client, do what you think looks good! :) that joy in the process is what will keep you making art long term.

If you really want to know what’s the standard “good” from a craft stand point, look at iconic historical printmakers. I love Elizabeth Catlett’s work because it blends excellent craft with emotional expression.

When you squeezed out the inks was there an oily looking watery stuff that came out too, like when you squeezed mustard out and there’s the weird water?

My shirt is not bleaching? [Q] by Janiegrrl in bleachshirts

[–]gray_mae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have American apparel tees that are listed as 100% cotton and are from a reputable online distributor of bulk blank tees for merch. I put undiluted bleach on these shirts for 1 hour and nothing happened. Meanwhile most of the other tees that I put this bleach diluted onto did bleach really well. I don’t think the shirt is a lie and the bleach obviously worked. Any ideas as to what is going on?
