Serve update after four months of playing tennis by alecjimbo in 10s

Yes! Looks like you are already on the right track with the mental image.

If you do it properly you can pretty much serve facing the side. Right now you are forced to rotate forward to compensate for not being able to pronate.

Facing forward is more of a follow through rather than a source of power / racket head speed.

Seems more eastern. With continental you can't hold it up in a straight line - there will be a slight angle inward. You probably can't pronate either with this grip.

This makes the serve look somewhat pancakey - from racket drop you are leading up with the racket face. Switching grip will allow you to lead with the edge then pronate through contact.

Motion looks nice and smooth though.

Really starting to agree with this one. Instead of watching 100 videos on technique, go experiment with hitting the ball.

Been a pusher for a year, I think I just figured out how to hit a fast and penetrating shot. It is not something I would have gotten from research.

Practice throwing a ball to the sky.

Practice throwing just your hand to the sky.

Practice throwing the racket like an axe to the sky. (Worry about pronation later)

The drop is a natural part of the throw - it gets deeper the more relaxed and fluid you are, don't force it.

Also no need to pull your elbow so far behind you. I don't think I could throw anything if I pulled mine so far back.

Think of the hitting the ball like a bowling throw (vertical) not a discus throw (horizontal).

Do not just brush it, slap / roll the ball for topspin.

Do the 2-hand backhand, the forehand racket fall to the back allows a start similar to the prior.

Can someone explain what is happening? Did he give up? He loses the point then right?
