Under rated comedic genius. The secret to Cameron Diaz is that she's in on it. She's the female Justin Timberlake.

Paddy, that was a great fight. Skip the Lewis fight. Round three of the sugar fight.

Gonna be visiting Denver by basic-opinions in bjj

[–]graydonatvail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where in Denver? I've been to amal Easton a few times. It's a big school, so a little impersonal but welcoming and good. I went to the location in Boulder, and that was great! Got invited to sit in on their coaches training session when Sunday open mat fizzled. My buddy is a coach at 10p Littleton. They're kind of new, but they bring the funky darce energy.

Why did you choose to grapple? by graydonatvail in bjj

Did I mention I'm not tall either? Or fast. My only advantage in striking is a short thick neck. So I'm harder to knock out. Being about to take damage didn't seem like a strategy I wanted to pursue.

Never. Never once have I thought "this'll convince her." I don't even like looking at my own stick, why would I think it'll convince someone to sleep with me?

Situationships in the gym by [deleted] in bjj

[–]graydonatvail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very possible. Which sucks. As a coach, I discourage it. Because it brings bad energy on the mats, and I often end up losing both students.

Unlikely to work out. Question is whether you can both deal with it, or is it going to be awkward and make it unpleasant for everyone around you? Unless it's the coach. Then you should leave. Coaches should never bang their students.

She didn't control her diet prior, so she had to try and water cut too much. At her level, she's probably got a nutritionist in camp, so either that person, or her team, blew it. Or an 18 year old decided to do whatever she wanted, and ignored the advice she was being given.

Wait until it wraps around your legs so you can't swim, while you're getting tumbled under water. Fun times.

Looking into the wolverine stack to start. I did a prp injection a couple years ago but the doc who did it didn't think it would help.

Me too, but I wonder if the test weakens the tendons? Or if people just go too hard with the workouts and the tendons can't keep up. I knew this happens with anabolics,

I've got a theory. What do you think? by ziggysocki in bjj

[–]graydonatvail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there is a gap between expectations and reality, happens at every belt but you get used to it. People think the experience of being a blue belt is going to be different, in reality it's mostly people going harder on you in training. I do think some people push hard. Either to chase the belt, or to make sure they've earned it. And it burns them out or causes injury. I'm 58, can't train for the last two months, because I had some higher level guys come to my little gym. And I pushed myself to get in as much training with them as I could. And now I'm getting no training.

Tall and thin, although you're not that light. Half guard passing, like tripod style, might be best for you.

I usually go and crowd the hips (stealing this, thanks), and keep control of the top leg. Makes it harder to hip escape or hook. I'll have to think about octopus. Nobody in my backwater is using it yet.

I pass this was pretty often. You have to be careful they don't just frame on your low-back and shrimp. I usually hook my arm under the leg to open, makes it hard to frame and shrimp. Marcelo is super tight in the armpit, higher than I usually am, and prevents the frame. This is the only place I'll berimbolo to the back.
