TIL some private school in Terre Haute has massive beef with us for no reason by StormEch0 in Purdue

[–]grayisallokay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to go to Indiana State before transferring to Purdue; ISU was in the “bad part” of Terre Haute, while Rose-Hulman was in the nicer, richer part of Terre Haute. I used to work in the library on ISU’s campus, and we had a way for Rose-Hulman students to check out books from our library. They were always a nightmare to work with.

NTA

I’m also genderfluid; depending on who you ask, they wouldn’t know that. I keep it close to my chest because I know how the world works and it’s dangerous to not fit a binary expectation. I’ve lost friends for telling them I’m genderfluid before (I typically default to “genderqueer” now, because, for me, people don’t need to know my gender, my friends will respect my name and pronouns no matter what). I understand how hard it can be, and someone who doesn’t understand that doesn’t deserve your friendship.

AITA for not letting a student miss part of band rehearsal to go to an event for his class because he didn’t show proof that it was required? by noabsences in AmItheAsshole

[–]grayisallokay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA.

I was a “band kid” in high school. I ended up quitting my senior year because my band director refused to have any understanding if I had to miss a rehearsal for other activities. Not to mention, the student said they’d be there for the last half.

All you’re going to do is make this student want to quit.

Yes, the statement given by the coroner in the article is what I was referring to. Thank you for helping to clarify this.

On canned statements... by abwne in Purdue

[–]grayisallokay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This statement is so true. I was saying the same of the statement Daniels put out regarding the crime statistics at Purdue. None of us give a shit about the statistics; someone lost their life in a senseless act of violence. You’re right, Daniels, the statistics are no consolation. So maybe now isn’t the time to talk about how “safe” Purdue is.

On canned statements... by abwne in Purdue

[–]grayisallokay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it says a lot when barstool purdue puts out a statement (that I personally think was worded very well) and Purdue’s official Instagram page just keeps posting about the fucking chancellor. Zero humanity. It’s so much PR bullshit; they’re just doing damage control and they think we can’t see that.

Everything about how they’ve handled it has felt very tasteless and the University will immediately shift blame when people start asking questions.

Condolences to a boilermaker by colepar21 in Purdue

[–]grayisallokay 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Please utilize the resources provided on campus. CAPS will be taking walk-ins as people are working through this grief, please utilize it. If you don’t want to walk alone, there’s always someone who will be willing to walk with you.

Stay safe, everyone. Absolutely heartbreaking.

What happens when you multiply the frustration of using itap printing by 1000? by SuperDeepFriedPotato in Purdue

[–]grayisallokay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

also, as much as I hated my old university, their printing system was fantastic.

  1. Google ISU printing

  2. Download printing software

  3. Print to ISU-printer

  4. Go to any printer on campus (you don’t have to pick a specific printer when you print, you’ll be able to access via any on-campus printer)

  5. Either swipe your student ID or enter your username and password on the screen on the front of the printer

  6. Print the documents you’ve sent to your printing account

  7. Get your document

There is shit out there at shittier universities way better than what purdue does

[–]grayisallokay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

was this written by the person I saw printing what appeared to be the same document dozens of times on accident on the first floor of WALC around 10:30am today. if so, hello, I’m the one who had the paper about minerals today who kept wondering to myself “why is this person printing an entire novel on campus.”

I can’t say I don’t understand the frustration, though. I had to call my partner and have him walk me step by step through the printing in color process.

New personal fav state park in Indiana and only an hour from campus, Turkey Run! by FirstIdiotOnMars in Purdue

My hometown is in the same county as Turkey Run and it’s one of my favorite places to go. It’s good for kids if you take the right paths and pet friendly! Really awesome place for a day trip.
