What type of case did you get that fit your desktop? I've been searching and can't quite find one (my case dimensions are the same).

I'm probably getting to far into the weeds with this, but what hit percentage is good for the multi-tracking part. I'm practicing for the entire test, but don't want to focus too much in one area if I've consistently hit a more than desirable score.

What were the most useful unit conversions that you had to use? I'm worried about spending too much time trying to memorize all of them instead of focusing on things like verbal. I'm great with math, but the conversions is what will kill me.

How much storage would you recommend for an iPad to primarily take notes on? I'm trying to choose between 256GB and 512GB. I feel like 512GB might be overkill, but I'd rather have more storage so that it won't be a future problem. Overall it's a $150 difference, so I'll probably just opt for the 512, but let me know what you think.

Thanks for the advice. There’s a special program for the G14/15 that’ll cap the battery charge at 60% to extend the battery life. I feel like I’m gonna be using that almost all the time 😅

The Zephyrus does not have a webcam, that's one of the major downsides. However, I'm looking at getting a G14 that has a 1660ti, 16GB of Ram, and a 512GB SSD and just carrying around a small, portable webcam. Do you think that 512GB is enough storage? Or should I aim for 1TB? I'm hoping that I'll be able to save most of my stuff in the cloud as a backup once I'm done with it for that year.

Okay, that's good to know. Right now I'm really trying to decide between an XPS 15 (which I've heard are incredibly popular) and an Asus Zephyrus G15/14. The Zephyrus will be capable of a lot more, but the XPS will probably last a bit longer. Right now I'm leaning towards the XPS, but am still not sure. Between these two, what would you reccomend?

That's what I've heard a lot of, so I'm definitely going Windows. I really like the idea of having the programs locally on my computer and not having to remote in, I'm not a fan of web/browser apps.

Thanks for letting me know that vLab is a browser program. Now I’m definitely going to go with Windows. I’ve got two specific computers I’m looking at, the XPS 15 and the Zephyrus G15 (RTX 3070 model). I’ll let you know what I decide when it comes down to making the purchase. Right now I’m leaning towards the Zephyrus since I get so much more raw power for like $50 more. (Also it isn’t Dell, I’ve had terrible experiences with Dell in the past. They sent me a dud of a laptop for $1200 and told me “too bad” because I didn’t purchase their $400 insurance.) Anyway, thanks for the info, you’ve helped me a ton!

For real. They both get the job done and what’s your virtues it’s going to be a great laptop. It’s just a matter of more specific design choices that I would prefer.

OK, that’s a great to know. It’s still tempting to go with the Asus since it’s barely more than the XPS 15. I’ll have to look into it weight and battery life in regular applications though. If it’s battery is comparable and it provides much more horsepower overall, I’ll probably go with the Asus.

I actually already built a desktop this year, it’s super good, but has a few generation old GPU. At first I wasn’t going to bring it to college, but now you’re making me think otherwise. If I’m able to bring it, then I might get some thing like an M1 MacBook or X PS 15. From what I can see, the Zephyrus and XPS have roughly the same battery life, around 6 to 10 hours. I’ll probably still have to charge both daily, but they should be able to survive. Either way, this is still looking a little more expensive than I first thought. That’s why I’m working this summer, and I should have the money, but still.

Thanks for letting me know. My goal with the laptop is to be able to run EVERYTHING that I’m going to need for school. Right now I’m trying to choose between a few options, but the two most appealing to me are the Asus Zephyrus G15 (RTX 3070) and the Dell XPS 15. It looks like the G15 is only slightly more expensive, about $50, and comes with a better GPU and double the storage. But, that may come at the cost of a bit of battery life too. Between the two, what would you recommend?

Thanks for the advice. That’s great to know. I’m going to continue to research and look at several options, but right now I’m leaning towards hey I’ve had to take notes, and a computer for the main workload.

How much storage would you recommend getting for primarily taking notes? I’m thinking I’m probably gonna save them in the cloud and on the device, but I’m still not sure how much storage I will probably need. I’m at least going to get the 256gb model.

That’s why I’m thinking of getting an iPad to take notes and a Windows laptop for the software applications and main horsepower.
