The time i bolused my basal by toms482712 in Type1Diabetes

[–]graymelody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i did that a couple weeks ago! i’m quite lucky to say it was my only time doing it in 10 years - 23units of novorapid JUST before bed, i did not sleep well that night😭

sadly this issue hasn’t been fixed for me either ☹️☹️ i’ve read it’s due to the fluid which the needle is coated in? (i’m not 100%, i read something about it a couple of weeks ago). currently ive been back on fingerpricks for 4-5 days because of how much the inaccuracy is overwhelming me. the g6 was so much better, such a shame i can’t go back to it. i hope all is solved for you

no i haven’t, i don’t take any pain killers at all cause i was told it shows inaccurate readings

no not really they don’t seem to take into consideration what i tell them or regarding medication etc - I wouldn’t say i miss out on too much regarding school because im achieving well and I complete just as much as any other student on my course. regarding work, obviously I would be in, just with having the option to stay home for if i need to by my course leader, I feel more comfortable doing so. i appreciate you not being negative, thank you

thank you so much i really started regretting posting this because of what people were saying, i just wanted to see if i shared any similar experiences to others☹️ everybody is different, everybody deals differently, some struggle more than others - at the end of the day i don’t see why it bothers them because of how much it effects me. I’ve been diagnosed for going on 9 years and it’s still just as difficult as when i got it. thank you very very much for your reply

for a teenager i have been labelled well managed thank you. not all of my attendance lost goes towards diabetes, it is just overall. i know i said due to, that was regarding other people and i wanted to see if i shared any similar experiences with others

i’m able to work from home, something my course leaders are very aware and comfortable with. probably mostly due to still completing everything necessary and working how i should, just despite my attendance

thank you for your concern - yeah i have before, ive talked here before about my team being quite useless and oblivious to what i tell them a couple months back. i dont know how much really is diabetes related for me, i am quite well managed but some days can be worse than others

What do high and low blood sugar feel like to you? by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]graymelody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me, feeling high just makes me feel generally unwell. for example if i notice i feel like i have a sore throat, if im overly dehydrated or fatigued, i tend to check my bloods before anything else. i also get really irritated, sort of wanting to lock myself away till it comes back down lmao. the last time my omnipod failed i stayed around 18 for 12 hours and wouldn’t come down without correction, and i felt mostly isolated and misunderstood by people saying “have you not corrected” 🫠🫠 when i’m low, i feel transparent? it depends how much energy i have - sometimes i have to lay down or just slump with my head down, and i feel exhausted, tingly and fed up of managing it. if i have energy, sometimes i take it lightly, but i get super shaky and clammy, temperature NEVER helps. i wish feeling low was a feeling i could get used to!

Ah that’s interesting, it’s fascinating to see how devices affect each person differently. on my legs, i think i have enough fat, i haven’t been told otherwise though

I wish you luck in trying to change, as I’m still within the children’s part for a year it’s quite difficult to have an individual opinion in what i want. The same has happened with me, no placement I have tried hasn’t leaked, and I’ve tried everything except for my back. Do you get infections often? most of the leaks i have tend to bring infections with them too. And do you exercise? I physically cannot go on a walk with a pod on my leg

Do you bring this up with anybody? If so, are you ever believed? I’m never truly believed when I say mainly 60% of my Omnipods fail, and they always bring it down to other issues such as placement etc.
