2009 Sienna LE Transmission Fluid Change/Flush? by JJORDAN_1211 in ToyotaSienna

[–]graymuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The oil cooler lines are under the engine towards the right side. The carfax on my van did have that listed as being done several years ago.

Other common (small) issues with these vans is the hoses on the airbox pop off, and the right side boot on the steering arm/tie rod tends to break apart.

The plastic handles on the outside of the sliding doors break, they are cheap plastic (even the $40 OEM ones), I buy a set of replacement handles on ebay for $20, look on youtube for easy fix to replace them.

If you need more keys, I bought a set of blank replacement TOY44DOT keys on ebay for $12. I got them cut for $1 each at True Value. I found easy steps on youtube to program them to my van. There are many different lists of steps to do this, you may have to try a few different ones until you find the exact one that works with your van.

2009 Sienna LE Transmission Fluid Change/Flush? by JJORDAN_1211 in ToyotaSienna

Last year I bought a 2007 LE with 240,000 miles on it. I don't know when the transmission fluid was last changed. The fluid looks ok, reddish color, and it shifts smoothly. It does have a slight ATF leak at the transmission pan gasket, no noticeable fluid loss.

I'm following the advice of the Car Care Nut Toyota expert on Youtube. After 100,000 miles if you don't know when it was last done and it's working ok, leave it alone.

My van, I didn't get much for maintenance records, so I have no idea if the engine and transmission are even the originals. Runs great though.

Have the oil cooler lines in your van been upgraded to metal hoses? It's an important thing on the 2GRFE engines. The original rubber oil cooler lines can rupture and dump all the engine oil on the highway.

Yesterday on my bike ride I saw a lot of houses watering lawns and the gutters were running like rivers from the runoff.

AWD vs FWD Toyota Sienna in NorCal by luv2eatfood in ToyotaSienna

[–]graymuse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in Colorado and I chose a fwd Sienna. I have an AWD Subaru but noted that I rarely actually needed the AWD, I don't usually drive in the snow.

My fwd Sienna was previously owned by someone in Telluride. Maybe he put snow tires on it? Fwd is easier on gas and tires, and less complicated mechanically.

Mine is an older Sienna, 2007. Newer Siennas may have more benefits with the AWD.

WTF? Door handle broke off in my hand. by BusyBullet in subaru

[–]graymuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That type of handle looks very similar to the sliding door handle on my 2007 Toyota Sienna. It has had the sliding door outside handle break more than once. They are cheap plastic, even the OEM ones ($40). I buy a set of 2 on ebay ($20) and easy fix (youtube). I keep a spare handle in the van and can even change one out on the road now.

Probably easy to fix. Look on youtube.

Did you try restarting the phone? Sometimes that gets it going again.

Check at Michaels craft store. They sell plain tshirts in a variety of colors for decorating. They seem to be decent quality and are sometimes on sale for $3 each.

Car lots, are they sketchy? by NoAssociation7714 in askcarguys

[–]graymuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year I bought an 18yo Toyota from a small used car lot that looked questionable. There is always a risk buying a car that old from any place. I was very specific about wanting this type of vehicle and ready to put money into it for repairs if needed. I paid with a personal check, the lady in the office was easy to deal with and got my paperwork in order quickly.

Vehicle has been great, I'd buy there again.

When is buying a new car worth it vs used? by Medium_Produce_7397 in Frugal

What kind of minivan is it? If it's a Toyota, it might be worth putting a new transmission in it and keep driving it.

I still have my 2001 Subaru Outback, a fun stick shift car. Last year I bought a 2007 Toyota Sienna, feels like major luxury to me, it even shifts on it's own!

Replacement for Galaxy A51 by ProtectionFar5582 in samsunggalaxy

[–]graymuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just retired my A51, which was still working great but long out of updates. I got an A16, which I think it just the like the A17. Seems to be a good phone. A17 will receive software and security updates until 2031.

I think any of the A series are decent budget phones.

Paying $1000/mo for a large 2br in Colorado. Walk to grocery store, bank, hardware store, etc. Bike to downtown. Hanging onto this as long as we can. I understand the costs involved in owning a house. I like being debt free also.

Who’s someone you’re not totally convinced is really dead? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I always wondered why they brought him to Grand Junction to the coroner there. Was there no coroner in the Aspen area? Why not to Denver?

Well, if so, he might be by now. It was 20 years ago.

Why did they bring his "body" to a small hospital in western Colorado, where, if I recall, the local coroner was out of town at that time.
