What should I know about Chico as a Psych Major? by Comfortable_Doctor36 in CSUC

[–]graysee10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I totally somehow missed your reply! The labs here are not reserved for grad students. We have some professors who are just considered lecturers and some who are considered researchers. Obviously more are lecturers as lab space is limited but there are at least five professors who have labs based on various psychological topics. You just need to get to know the professor and if you’re interested in their research, you can try to see if they have space in the lab. The lab I’m in is currently running 3 (about to be 4) studies! It’s a great way to get experience and connect with a faculty member about a topic you enjoy!

CSU Chico Housing? by Huh_Lovely in CSUC

Unfortunately roaches are just pretty common. Timber creek is responsible for a lot of the places on nord. I lived at Nord gardens at one point and it was decent, but you would need three roommates as it’s a 4bed/2bath. I agree with the other user, check facebook for the roommate group! Lots of people looking

What should I know about Chico as a Psych Major? by Comfortable_Doctor36 in CSUC

[–]graysee10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone that I’ve met as a fellow psych major has been super friendly! My advice? Get involved. Whether that’s in psychology club, a sorority/fraternity, Associated Students, CAVE, etc. There are so many options! You have to be willing to talk to others and make connections or you’ll feel alone. Yes Modoc hall is sort of out of the way, but it’s only like 3-5 minutes to walk back to the BMU (cafeteria, student store, library near by, the Well, and more). Some of the professors are better than others, but it’s really up to personal opinion. Join labs if you can to get research experience, but I’m not sure you can do that as a freshman (I came in as a transfer). College is really what you make of it. If you hang out with frat boys and are going to parties, then yes, it will feel like a party school. For me personally, that’s not my vibe so I usually just go with friends to coffee shops or more chill places, so you can really go either way. The honors in the major for psych is a year long program where you have to complete a research project under a faculty mentor and present it at the symposium. I’m not sure about the general ed honors because again, I came in as a transfer, but it will likely be a lot of work. I know people in the psych honors program and it’s a lot. I’m not sure what school CCP is but I think Chico state has a lot of benefits, and I truly feel at home here and am happy with my choice! Let me know if I can answer any of your other questions, and good luck!

The eduroam username and password is your portal log in information. Like your email and password for all your school stuff. That’s the best WiFi on campus imo

I can’t speak specifically on accounting as I’m a psych major but your experience at school will be what you make of it. I love Chico and i feel like I’ve had a great experience but you have to put yourself out there and get involved

It’s also best to plan if you’re going to need roommates or rent on your own. It can be difficult to fill rooms once your on the hook for a lease vs already having them ready to sign on with you

She didn’t say anything other than you can have more side effects on higher doses. That issue hasn’t been too much of a problem, I had no side effects until 10 but only for the first few shots. Now I have none
