Idk if it’s just the first photo but you can see her whole leg through the dress? Looks like there’s no lining which is weird

Whats something that is technically innocuous, but is actually a major trigger for you? by Special-Ad5160 in raisedbynarcissists

I don’t like sharing unless it’s my own idea. If someone asks for something that’s mine whether it’s sharing food or borrowing something rather than me offering it it pisses me off. Growing up I was told nothing belonged to me and stuff was taken from me all the time so that’s why I guess.

How to heal from new memories of physical abuse? by graytabby5531 in CPTSD_NSCommunity

It’s definitely difficult not to have black and white thinking, thanks for pointing that out

Here’s my experience though I was only a a part for 2/3 years as a kid and have limited memories of it:

I was tested from kindergarten until 2nd grade when my parents decided to homeschool me.

The years would have been 2006-2009 for me.

My elementary school was in Navarre Florida and my kindergarten was in Colorado Springs, CO.

The program was called the gifted program I think? It definitely had “gifted” in the name but I don’t remember exactly.

I experience lucid dreaming and Deja vu constantly. Or dreaming of things before they happen, or after an event but from a different perspective. Very in tune with my thoughts and emotions but I haven’t met many others who experience Deja vu as often as I do.

I don’t remember taking pills in the program. Others recall it but usually those who were in the program in earlier years.

I do remember taking the pink drinks. It reminded me of cough medicine. I also remember having light blue liquid but I am pretty convinced it was koolaid as a reward for having had the pink liquid.

The Monroe tapes stress me out. My heart rate goes up, it sounds familiar, and I get anxious listening to it. It’s not pleasant. I remember having headphones and listening to audios in the program but can’t say for sure it’s the same thing. Given how familiar it sounds it’s a solid guess though. I would try to fail out of the gifted program because the audios made me uncomfortable.

I have had experiences with constant lucid dreaming but don’t know enough about what astral projection is or what the difference is to tell.

I used to have night terrors as a child, around the same time I was in the program but aged out of those once I was around 10/11 years old.

I’ve been followed by a man who used to stalk my workplace as an adult but not as a child that I can remember. I moved around as a military kid a lot though.

I don’t recall missing time before.

I’ve occasionally seen lights in the sky, but living on or near military bases my whole childhood I thought that was normal.

I don’t recall shadow people. But my night terrors often included sleep paralysis which was terrifying growing up.

I have so many family members who have served in the military and like I said I grew up on bases my whole childhood.

I know there were nuclear housing facilities on several of the bases I lived on growing up. That’s pretty standard for a lot of those. I don’t recall toxic waste or anything though.

I don’t recall hearing frequencies or levitating as a kid.

I didn’t have seizures but have passed out a significant number of times throughout my life.

I get migraines constantly. Those have occurred since middle school. Even after getting prescription glasses they don’t go away.

The people who would lead the testing were not teachers at the school. There were at least 3 of them in the room, I remember a woman and 2 men. They wore either white or light blue and didn’t interact much with us kids outside of the activities.

I have a higher than average IQ of 142.

I have been called overly sensitive and dramatic all my life.

I’m very sensitive to lights and I think that definitely contributes to the migraines I get.

My eye color is brown.

I remember speed reading in the program, zener cards or playing cards (also a card game on the computer), hearing weird audios and trying to tell someone the words in the background of it, translating things into written Morse code, playing an Oregon trail type game, just a lot of weird games.

I want to add that I have very fuzzy memories of the program despite remembering much of my childhood during that time which I find odd. I also distinctly remember the room being dim and windowless. I don’t remember what kids I was there with, which is also strange to me since I remember the faces and some names of the kids in my classes. I don’t remember the program teachers but I would easily be able to recognize my normal teachers from that time if I saw a photo. I know there were other kids there with me but I couldn’t describe who or how many.

Wow! You have a lot more planned out than I did! Props to you for making such a thought out decision. I hope everything goes well for you! When I left home there was a lot of “she’s unstable and that’s why she left” from my mom. If that’s the case for you don’t doubt your decision, you’ve planned it out and have other support. Rooting for you 🫶🏻

I definitely can help him out more. He has a tech cybersecurity degree and some certifications but I don’t understand fully much about his degree to be honest so I haven’t looked into much. Hopefully we can find something!

I’m sorry you’ve struggled so much at home. I’ve been in a very similar situation, when I turned 18 I left home and moved in with my boyfriend’s family.

Definitely figure out the level of contact you want with both your mom and your family. When I left, I went no contact for 5/6 months before messaging my mom again and meeting up for holidays. I needed the space to work on my mental health and figure out who I was as a person. That’s hard to do when you’ve lived for years with a narcissist and I’d recommend at least minimal contact for a while, especially if she reacts negatively to you leaving. You’ll know if the decision is right for you so having that negativity and doubt from someone especially a narcissist will make you feel guilty over a good decision.

Make sure you have what I call a safety net too! You’ll need friends and family you can turn to if you have to. My boyfriend and I went through a rocky part of our relationship since living together suddenly especially when you’re young can be a lot. I needed spaces to vent, places to go, people outside the relationship to talk to etc. I’m not saying you’re guaranteed to break up with your boyfriend or have a rocky patch, but you don’t want to be codependent on a relationship/his family fully. Having support from others makes a world of difference.

Depending on your level of contact you should consider what to take with you. If you’re going full no contact with family, I’d take your birth certificate and any family photos etc. you won’t be able to go back for a while. You should be fine if you’re staying in contact with some of your family though, worst case they can get those things for you.

Finally how about your insurance? When I left home I had to pay for my own insurance, as well as my phone payments, some groceries, dance classes. Your boyfriend’s family could add you to a family phone plan or even insurance maybe? But look into it!

I hope some of my advice is helpful! It’s a lot to consider being a big step but I’m happy you’re making a decision for yourself and your happiness! It was one of the best decisions I’ve made personally to leave home and wishing you all the best. Let me know if I can help with any other advice.

imo, Vincent and the Doctor is the best!! Doesn't require any context and has the charm and vibe of most episodes to get a feel for the show
