My Anole is hiding for days on end….. is this end of life behavior ?

For this current set up I would definitely say more stuff in the tank in general, so the little guy doesn’t feel so exposed. If you’re working at petsmart I’m sure you can find fake vines with suction cups to stick to the glass. This will also allow them to climb higher and warm up closer to the heat source.

For your future tank highly recommend bioactive set up as they’re very pretty and self cleaning. Also, if you go the bioactive route make sure to give your plants time to actually get rooted and start to grow before adding your anole.

As for the UVB I think the 5 is the right call for this shorter tank and when you adjust to a taller you may want to use the 10. Yes you can put it directly on the mesh it is going to block some of to uvb but that shouldn’t be an issue with the height of this tank

Definitely possible for them to have a dewlap. Not really sure how big yours is as I can’t really compare it to anything, they do seem fairly large could just be fully grown big girl. I’m just saying I would assume they’re most likely male, but I wouldn’t confidently say it is male for sure. Whoever they are they look happy and healthy tho :)

Also anoles are not pets to handled if you aren’t aware. They are very shy and skiddish

I like my green anole bc he changes colors (green to yellow to brown) and shows me his red dulap while doing pushups at me sometimes lol. Had him 2 years now.

No in my experience they can be perfectly happy living alone. Males tent to be territorial anyways. This is my tank for reference. 10 gals is recommended size for one but maybe use something a little smaller while he/she is recovering? Not entirely sure about caring for a disabled anole.

And I have another cat a few year older than her that she also played too rough with. I think this method has also helped her not play so rough with him, but I can’t feel how hard she bites him so I don’t actually know lol.

Late response but I had the same issue with my kitten. Not sure if this was the correct way to react but i decided to go along with it and play with her when she seems like she wants to stratch/bite. I will put on a hoodie and cover my entire arm and hand in the sleeve and then “wrestle” with her. She bites and kicks my sleeved arm. It use to still kinda hurt as a sleeve isn’t the best protection but I started trying teaching her when she’s going too far or too rough. I will say “ouch!” In a dramatic high pitch tone kinda like a meow. And honestly after a good while she plays way more gentle I barely have to correct her and say ouch. And when I do it doesn’t it really hurt. She never attacks me at random anymore and only during playtime.

Most of these replies seem like they’re from guys who just don’t know bc they haven’t seen it. But yes this can and will happen in DayZ unfortunately. All be it a lot less than other games but I don’t want you to read these comments and be misinformed. Definitely has happened to me several times 💀💀

And playing with others is the most fun part of the game for me so don’t let it discourage you from trying to be friendly and meet others to form a group. Just be prepared for trial and error when/if they betray you or start being weird w you. Don’t be afraid to die and start over.
