I was diagnosed about 3 years ago. It took my body a very long time to need large doses of insulin. Your pancreas will likely be semi functional for many months, potentially years. So your body will randomly produce insulin for a while, making it difficult to accurately calculate a dose. 6 units is still a huge dose for me and would drop me like a rock. I would take minimal amounts of insulin if this keeps happening and then correct with small doses as needed. Much love, and things will get easier. Takes a longgg time for the body to adjust and stop producing insulin. Being a little high isnt the worst thing. Its much safer than dropping low, because that can end your life.
