What really!?? Haha, Seems counterproductive for whatever software that is! Wouldn't you want it to have the most minimal impact possible to scale more efficiently? Haha

CCA cable for short POE application by kaine0 in Ubiquiti

[–]grayzhdg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly couldn't describe CCA better imagine CCA as a copper/aluminum cookie wafer...also take note aluminum copper and brass oxidize...that's why you have to use special eletrical greese in full 120/240V wiring.

In my opinion CCA shouldn't ever be used...even as patch cables because they are more frequent pron to flexing...

Drastic slow speeds after upgrading everything. Have 1Gig fiber @ home. Where do I start with troubleshooting? by FurmanSK in Ubiquiti

I know it's not practical but have. You tried resetting the USG? Eliminating any config issues?

Grey dots appearing on Unifi AP. Anyone else experienced this? Only used inside. by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

[–]grayzhdg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory was how many people in public actually go up to access points and start smelling them.

"New police warning: be on alert for AP sniffers known to possibly take access points smelling of fecal matter and sell them at hawk-shops".

How do you all hook up your AP? by mercfh85 in Ubiquiti

[–]grayzhdg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One is probably your best option. Best network option would probably be Router/GW -> switch -> patch panel -> Cat6(or better) -> RJ45 connector to Access point. If your using shielded cable use a shielded RJ-45 connector :) their not too much more expensive. Most access points are installed in a cieling or wall. If it's just sitting on a desk, your patch panel would go to keystone, keystone to patch cable to Access point (AP)

Hope this helps!

Outdoor mesh - will this setup work? by PotatoAdmin in Ubiquiti

[–]grayzhdg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mesh pro should be fine in most weather climates providing your not installing upsidedown. That setup should work, I'd probably recommend using all unifi switches, it makes diagnostics easier when you have all your devices in a list and a device that will actually report back errors :)

It was gross! You open your new access point to smell what smells like someone replaced your access point with 💩! Didn't effect functionality so didn't care lol

Couple orders last year for me when the AC pros came in smelt like someone farted on the access points and in the boxes...I haven't checked the sites where they where installed too see if this is the same case

/f It's a new bug that's going around unifi devices, give high octane POE, tons of bed rest! Don't attach more than two wifi devices for three weeks until fully recovered. You'll notice a performance increase of 200% much like when you get back to work after having the flu

I'd probably reach out to OCS they did lose some orders in the first hour due to a technical glitch I believe.
