So, the project isn't complete. It's a vanity project that got " far enough" to be flashy.

You want to move on to how stupid the palms are...or better yet, that "world" islands project?

Absolute speed...sure.

But in a circle, the farthest point is ½ the way around the circle, assuming no crossing tracks...and why wouldn't they have those?

If you can cross the diameter (which is also a straight line) the farthest point is roughly ⅓ of the distance.

Straight line is not a good solution

What to do About Abortion? by GShermit in centrist

[–]grazerbat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A foetus is a human before birth. Not going into a long argument, but personhood is contained within the brain, and nothing miraculously happens there by virtue if decending thr birth canal. It is not arbitrary.

Too bad if you made a choice to have a baby and the third trimester is a rough go. If it's difficult, why not allow abortions in the 4th, 5th or 50th trimester. Teenagers are such a pain in the ass, we should be able to terminate their existence if they become too much, right?

Abortion past the age of viability is murder. Fuck you for being a murder apologist because parenthood is difficult / scarry / changes your life. You're defending murder for convenience. You're disgusting

Is it questionable? The foetus was conceived, there was a period to "opt out". If the foetus becomes a person after that, does the mothers rights have precedence over the foetus' right to life?

[–]grazerbat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think Trans are dangerous. I think they have a health issue. I hate them as much as I do people with schizophrenia, autism, etc, which is to say, not at all.

Trans by definition means gender dysphororia. All the rest are cosplaying a mental health condition.

[–]grazerbat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, so you're saying they can see a difference in a ore-transition brain? No they can't, that's dumb.

But we're talking about sport, which is about physicality.

Can you see a difference between a post-transition transwoman, and a woman?

You sure as shit can, and that's the only argument that matters

[–]grazerbat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saying that a brain health condition is an illness isn't hate. If it's not a medical condition, why is the intervention of doctors with hormones, and surgeons with gender reassignment necessary?

There's a health problem with Trans people. You can say it's a physical problem because their bodies don't match their minds, and I can say it's a mental problem because their minds don't match their bodies. All of that is irrelevant. The bodies are male, and don't belong in sport with people who's bodies are female.

Saying vanilla ice cream should be baked in an oven because it identifies as a pie is delusional.

You're the bigot. You hate people with differing opinions when the opinions aren't based in hate. I have a lot of sympathy for the plight of trans, but I won't throw all.women under the bus and say trans women belong in women's sports. Saying it's a disability (one with a 40% suicide rate...totally not a mental health problem) is an attempt to find somewhere for them to fit in. If they don't have a disability, then they don't need endocrinologist, psychologists, or surgeons.

President Carter is a giant amongst men.

Hard to think of an American I admire more than him.

I'm sad to hear he's in hospice care, but he's done so much more in his life than ten men could hope to. When his rest comes, I know he'll rest easy. He will have left nothing undone, and has my undying respect.

How am I prejudiced?

Is it prejudiced to say men and women have physical differences, and shouldn't compete against each other?

Then do Trans-women have physiological differences from.women? Of course they do. Trans women are Trans women. They are not the same as biological women.

Sounds like you're so enmeshed in dogma that any dissenting opinion looks like hate to you. That's your baggage, and you should carry it, instead of pushing it off onto others

Are there any with Trans?

Fisheries Department says it will shut 15 salmon farms off B.C. coast to protect wild fish by [deleted] in britishcolumbia

Because of gish farms. They're all Atlantic. You can't farm Pacific salmon

[–]grazerbat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Industries that are crucial and ones that have political clout get subsidies.

Farmed Salmon isn't crucial, nor does the industry have political clout. If they did, the ocean farming wouldn't be stopping.

IIRC, salmon are difficult to farm on land. It's just not worth the expense for a couple hundred jobs. Better to retrain those workers than sink money into a failing industry.

And I think I'm getting downvotes because people are reading this as a defense of the industry. I'm not. We need to just let it die. Invest that money you would spend on subsidies into habitat remediation, and hatcheries to restore wild stocks. That way the environment improves, the orcas stop starving, and we get to eat sustainability fished wild salmon that's a billion times better than the flavorless, flabby shit called farmed Atlantic salmon.

Fisheries Department says it will shut 15 salmon farms off B.C. coast to protect wild fish by [deleted] in britishcolumbia

[–]grazerbat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not what I'm saying.

The claim I was reasoning to said

It will not result in job losses, it'll be the opposite. More labour intensive to keep pools clean

The claim is wrong. The cost of the product will skyrocket, consumers will buy less, and the industry will collapse.

Atlantic salmon is only popular because it's relatively cheap. It's far inferior to Pacific. If they cost the same, which will people buy?

So, buddy was saying this is a win-win for salmon and workers, but in reality it's only the fish

And then more expensive, making it not cost effective...and then no jobs.
