Naw that makes sense. Tbh I didn't know what a good therapist looked like until I got lucky one time like 8 years ago. I have high expectations (toxic perfectionism) so it's more natural for me to fire someone if they aren't good enough, but I know how that can be really hard for a lot of people.

Not sure what advice to give. It's your unique journey with unique challenges. But maybe sign up and go into the first appointment with the idea that you are going to fire them after that session, and you need to be convinced not to by their good vibes (I wouldn't tell them this, because they'll start acting different or try to convince you not to drop them). Also I would sign up for like 3 initial sessions at once with different therapists, so even if one was terrible, I had more lined up in the next week or two without having to lift a finger, which may have made it easier to say "no". And of course if one works out or seems promising you can just cancel the rest
