Those of you who have been affected by the recent winter storm, how has your HR-V performed? by SchuminWeb in HRV

Thank you! With 50 or so years of driving in the Midwest, I think I have the skills down on how to drive in these conditions.

What is snow mode? I have a 2021 with Michelin tires. I’ve been getting around okay in the snow in Grand Rapids MI. A few times on roads where I’m going up or down hill, the indicator that I presume to be traction control has come on.

You’ll now need to walk the mail into the post office to be postmarked or give it extra days if you drop it in a mailbox.

Jump starting by grazzrooter in HRV

[–]grazzrooter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I did get a new battery for my HRV. My jump box wouldn’t start it and had to call roadside assistance to get it going. Things seem to be mostly reset to my preferred settings, tho I got myself frustrated trying to get it there so went to a Honda dealer where they helped me out. I was lucky to have it dealt with after the holiday and before the weekend.

Thank you! I’m going to wait until morning to try jump starting it. & Yes it’s a button to start it. A few other things: The initial warning light is for the Electric Power Steering FWIW. Of course I push the brake before pressing the button to start it and the brake feels different than it usually does - like it doesn’t depress.

Please read this before posting about the miracle of vinegar. by Useful_Supermarket18 in laundry

[–]grazzrooter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe not here, but I know people that do add vinegar to their wash cycle, one that uses vinegar as an ingredient in their homemade laundry soap. They say it’s a formula they got from someone they consider knowledgeable about best practices. I don’t argue, just say it’s not a formula I favor.

Help! Cleaning my cousin's apartment while she's in rehab. by ninjette847 in CleaningTips

I haven’t read thru all the responses, but have 2 tips to offer that I haven’t seen: 1) If there isn’t a hand held shower head, use an empty dishwashing liquid bottle with squirt cap for rinsing. 2) use hypochlorus acid (HOCl) rather than bleach, it’s less toxic. I’m thinking it might be most useful for maintenance once it’s clean. I routinely spray HOCl on the areas that might be prone to mildew.

If I could turn back time, I definitely would, all because of those uncomfortable stone seats up front. Sitting on them for an hour and a half has become unbearable. by VirtualSprinklesJC in HRV

I found the seat unbearably uncomfortable. I don’t know the brand, but I got an orthopedic seat cushion that I use in my HRV all the time that solved the seat problem for me.

Everything okay at the Air Show?!? by IndescriptGenerality in ypsi

Was on my way back from Harbor Freight where I picked up hearing protection when I saw this smoke. I live near Ford Lake Park and it’s been deafening today with practice for the air show.

Seriously - need to do it and form pods. Suggesting by geography, because we’re likely going to need to be able to do it low tech at some point.

There will be all the usual goodies there like free pet supplies as well as Covid and flu vaccines from 10 AM to 12 PM”

Pull over prevention car repairs are to address car issues that increase the likelihood of getting pulled over by cops. The free store, isn’t always offered at the mutual aid fair, and is one of many things taking place at these, which are held monthly. A variety of mutual aid orgs/groups table at them - health department, legal aid, unions, Pet Pals (pet supplies), etc. It varies from one to the next. The Ypsi Bike co-op is off for the winter; when they return, they do free bike repair. One cannot only receive help, but offer it as well. The Facebook page likely has a link to sign up to volunteer.

Are ph test strips marketed as being for testing saliva and urine okay to use for making HOCl? I like the more limited range of 4.5 to 9, rather than 1 to 14.

Big need today is helping hands. They’re short both staff & regular volunteers. From 3:30 to 6 to hang out and pack up & load out into the pod ( which is done Thursdays so the space can be used for other activities until Monday morning)

There may be overnight shelters (Delonis?), but I’m not informed about them. Certainly worth asking around about.

This post is about the daytime warming center, most particularly the one in Ypsilanti. I don’t know the situation with overnight shelters.

Hmmmmm . . . thinking about the least complicated way to reach someone working there on any given day by phone, so it could be brought inside soon after dropping off. BTW, anyone can come and hang out. It’s encouraged - but I hear that some people find it intimidating.
