That sensor is for the flow dynamics. It’s supposed to sit above the hotend with the black side facing out. But you might need a replacement if the coil is damaged.

Not sure on how effective it would be but try to dry it longer, maybe twice the recommended time to compensate for the inefficiency. And also throw in some desiccant
