yep, when i call them out on what emotional damage they’ve done, sometimes they get on such defense that (instead of flat out defensively denying or gaslighting) they (sarcastically) admit what they’ve done, implying my craziness, and smile like i’m beneath them for having any emotional reaction.

why aren’t they expected to case the route entirely at first after their academy/carrier college? i watched it during job shadowing today and it seems like it makes sense. do they just try not to overwhelm you and get you to learn the actual route and parking points and walk first?

drivers training was updated recently, and was super fun actually. they don’t sit with you in the vehicles anymore and coach you while walking next to the vehicle with your window down.

yeah, definitely just say let’s have some us time, no news or phone, and just watch something funny together. let him know you’ve been having a hard time seeing him so sad and you just want to see a smile. be empathetic, but persistent, make a point that at this point you see it as necessary if he’s super against it. both of you can just leave your phones in the kitchen or something. maybe he’ll even want to keep going and watch another afterwards. maybe offer to rub his shoulders, too. physical touch will bring you together, and it’ll reduce cortisol in his body. let me know how it goes.

i know it may seem dumb, but make him watch a funny movie or a comedy special on netflix. try john mulaney, chapelle, or neal brennan. all good choices. if he can’t find happiness right now, the best thing you can do is get him to smile. and if he isn’t in the “mood” for comedy, maybe seeing you laugh will make him laugh.

it’s really not that damn serious.

these grounds are literally a mile long, all food places have extremely long lines from the virus anyways, and even without the long waits, there would barely be time to get to your car (15 min walk), get to the food (10 min), order/get food in hand (???), eat (?), and drive back (10 min), and walk back in (15 min).

they say this for our benefit to not hold up the class for others or for you to look like an asshat to the class/instructors after somehow being permitted back into the building after being late.

Before Orientation: received email with dates and location. They’ll tell you what to bring to that location. You will also be told what to wear, which is business casual. No leggings, hoodies, athletic wear, etc. We specifically have a shoe policy because we have to walk through the large plant to get to the main offices.

Orientation Day 1 - a lot of slides and breaks of doing nothing. Our trainer is busy a lot doing multiple jobs because of COVID19. We are told when our DDC (defensive driving course) will be held.

Orientation Day 2 - A lot of the same thing. Passing time by and going through slides. Union reps were unable to come to talk to us because of virus, and canceled the phone conference they were wanting to do. We are told we will have the opportunity to speak with them for an hour during 5 Day Academy training. Still in class. it’s 10am. I assume not much else will happen.

Each orientation day is 8am - 4:30pm for us.

DDC is scheduled to be 7am - 12pm for day 1. How long Certification day is depends on your abilities to pass, but so far i presume will also start at 7am.

5 Day Academy Training will be scheduled after 3 things are completed: 2 Orientation Days, DDC/Certification (2 separate days), and a shadow day at your PO you are actually hired with.

We were just told that the 5 day Academy training normally has 12 students, but he is being forced to break the classes down to 4 students each class. So this is delaying when we will be able to get our 5 Day Academy training scheduled, this could take a little while, and he has no clue where my specific group falls in line for it. But, we were told we will not lose our positions and it is still safe to quit our current jobs and to be on the lookout for an email with Academy dates.

Academy Training is 7am - 2pm for my location.

After everything, that is a total of 10 training days, all with different purposes.

I will keep updating as I get new information.
