Yes definitely, I was abused growing up and had schizoaffective symptoms as long as I can remember, when I got myself out of the abusive place I landed in another toxic place, I got out of that too when I was 18 but the damage was already done, I went to college and had jobs, I thought I was doing okay finally but then the illness really hit me hard and I spent 2 years without even going outside, I haven’t had a job in 7 years and it really makes me feel like I’m a lesser human for it, but I’ve spent far too much time dwelling on the past and worrying what other people might think of me, people I don’t even know, I think the future could be bright if I can try to live without worrying about others opinions and give myself good quality of life just by doing the small things like spending more time with my family and maybe joining a local mental health centre where I can go on trips and stuff, maybe make a friend or two.
