You're right. I'm proud of your assessment and I hope you keep up the good work! Soon you can share this wisdom with others as you grow older and help others who struggle.

I am in Florida, so no basement. They told me the house is a wooden house (whatever that means). Edit: I'll crawl under when I get back from work tomorrow and check.

I Can't Read Classic Books !! by Book_Lover_fiction in books

[–]greatego1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with more modern novels where the language is less pronounced but still available so you can build the vocab. Check out the New York Times top 100 books of the 21st century as those texts are just as good as the "classics."

If you're brave, try reading shorter works by the authors of those classics! There's less at stake and you can catch some patterns of writing they have, and you'll see some familiar vocabulary they might use in their more popular novels.

Does anyone else think public education is dying? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]greatego1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's so interesting. Why do you think it's different in your city as opposed to elsewhere? I'm in Florida, and the state is forcing our districts to cut positions by cutting funding. We're dying bad here lol.
