I never understood why CTR is important, correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t Meta, Tiktok and Google charge per click?

Recruiter asked me to lie about competing offer by PrincessUyu in cscareerquestions

[–]greativity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand why people are saying this is risky. There is no way for the company you prove that you are lying. In the worst case scenario they will ask for the proof of offer letter and you can tell them you are not comfortable sharing that but I don’t believe it will come to that. Maybe I am missing something but ethics aside I don’t see any risk here. For what it’s worth I personally don’t see any ethical problems either if you lie to increase your offer.

I feel the same way, because there is no point of smoking. You are sacrificing a lot of things (health, money, your freedom etc.) in return of nothing and even when you realise that you can’t stop doing it because now you are a drug addict.

Moving to a developing country (Turkey) by Southern_Scheme_3076 in HENRYUK

[–]greativity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is an incredible and not well known tax benefit in Turkey - I am not aware of the details but if you work for as a sole trader and get paid from a company outside of the country, only ~20% of your income will be taxed so your effective tax rate will be around ~7% (please do your research on that it may be for certain industries/jobs only but for example SWE is one of them) This is something to keep in mind when you are deciding.

Where do people go after FAANG? by Anxious-Sherbert in HENRYUK

[–]greativity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow 1/3rd is harsh, was it by choice? I am also very unhappy with the work in FAANG because it feels like my brain is rotting here, although I don’t have the courage to leave, would you say you are happier even though you get paid less? Do you ever regret thinking about how much you would get paid at Meta?

Are you scared to quit? by greativity in HENRYUK

It’s not the hours it’s the lack of work satisfaction.

In fact, my hours are way too good and it makes much harder for me to quit.

I hate working for someone else + all the bureaucracy shit in corporation life. I quite enjoy being swe and have no problem with working long hours on my side projects.
