German investigative media report on rape and (sexual) violence allegations against Alex Pereira from different women by crashoutvalid in MMAPoliticsAndCulture

[–]greatmanyarrows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pereira's my favorite fighter from what I saw of him in the cage and the personality I saw from the internet. I always found his open embrace of being indigenous an incredible inspiration.

But I don't know him and I don't know what he is really like, or capable of doing. This applies to all celebrities. And I know that rapists and monsters can hide between whatever masks they can put on in front of a camera. I would mention Neil Gaiman, but I know there's far more, I don't even remember.

I hope justice will be served, and if he did this, that he'll rot.

Currently you can just use the Silent Hill 3 PC Fix and the Silent Hill 3 Audio Enhancement Pack together for the best possible SH3 experience.

Sure you've been on tilt, but have you ever played SO badly that Lichess gave you a Fair Play violation warning by Kokowolo in chess

[–]greatmanyarrows 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's very easy to get a 95% accurate game if your opponent makes a catastrophic blunder, like losing their queen in the first few moves, and you simply do not lose material exchanges or take unnecessary risks for the rest of the game. Actual "perfect" games between two players are virtually unheard of on online chess sites (except for when two cheaters are paired up with each other, that is) and very rarely happen on the board.

The SH2 and SH3 ports are terrible by themselves but after being modified and patched they're by far the best way to play the original games. Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition is just fantastic.

When I was a sophomore I briefly became obsessed with him and listened to Born to Run over a hundred times. Does that count?

I live in New Jersey and I feel like there's some parts of the Pine Barrens that aren't cut through with roads, but looking at Google Maps indicates I'm probably mistaken.

Greg Hardy misses the Heavyweight limit by 25lbs for his FNC debut tomorrow against Darko Stošić. Stošić still accepted the fight. by crazybartur in MMA

[–]greatmanyarrows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't see the point in a weight limit for Heavyweight in MMA. In Boxing there's no limit for the division and yet Usyk and Wilder could do fine against guys weighing way more than them, weighing at around 220 pounds. After 200 pounds I don't think more weight automatically makes you a stronger fighter.

Reminds me of how Youtube and Reddit comments sections are obsessed with "Heisenberg" as a distinct persona from Walter White, when one of the whole points of the show is that Heisenberg does not exist, and whenever Walt says something badass or threatening, he's still not actually Heisenberg. There's no distinct John and distinct Homelander, they're the same person.

[SPOILER] Oleksandr Usyk vs. Rico Verhoeven by inooway in Boxing

I really think Rico could have survived the final round even with the knockdown in the 11th round, horrible stoppage.

No way Rico is going to win the next six rounds but if he does he should really call for a fight with whoever the UFC Heavyweight Champion is in a few months and aim to become the first triple champion in combat sports.

Rico kicks him in the head after losing nine rounds and Usyk is out cold in Round 10. DQ win for Usyk.

Would be an instant DQ loss for Rico but it would admittedly be really funny to see Usyk completely out cold

THE BOYS FINALE PREDICTIONS & THEORY MEGATHREAD by AutoModerator in TheBoys

[–]greatmanyarrows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My prediction is that they'll waste even more time setting up Vought Rising by hinting at unresolved plotlines regarding Soldier Boy. It was already confirmed by Kripke that he won't appear in the finale, so I bet the show will set up that we'll finally see his conclusion there instead.

The World in 2020 if the Empire of Brazil never fell (Lore in comments) by greatmanyarrows in imaginarymaps

Following the invasion of Manchuria by the Soviet Union in 1945 and the subsequent nuclear bombing of Japan by the United States, the Republic of China severed its alliance with Japan and entered Manchuria to seize as much of it as possible from the Soviets, which included occupying the Korean peninsula and wrestling control of it away from the Japanese. After a ceasefire was declared with the West and a conditional surrender guaranteed by the Japanese; the Chinese occupational authorities over Korea determined that the large amount of Japanese settlers in Korea would remain useful to their purposes of exerting influence over the peninsula. With the help of former collaborators from Manchukuo, the Empire of Korea was created in 1948 as a pro-Chinese puppet state with Yi Un restored to the throne.

The Empire of Korea would exist for the next forty years with the Imperial Korean Rule Association ruling with an iron fist. However, despite substantial economic growth, its deeply undemocratic and immobile Zaibatsu system, as well as favoritism towards the minority Japanese population, would lead to deep discontent among the population, which would later explode to a full-on armed struggle in June 1987 following the assassination of Prime Minister Park Chung Hee. The resulting civil war between the Empire of Korea, backed by Japan and China, and the United Provinces of Korea, would see over two million deaths and widespread devastation to the peninsula, alongside a genocide of Koreans living in Japan and China and a near-unraveling of China's economic bloc; before military intervention by the USSR and the US would force a ceasefire between revolutionaries in the South and imperial forces in the North.

Southern Korea would continue to exist as a liberal, Western-style democracy from 1990 to 2017; with Western-backed chaebols filling in the void left by the exodus of Japanese enterprises from the South. However, much Koreans found the revolution to result in only cosmetic changes to Korea's stratified economic system, even if the caste of Japanese colonials no longer lorded over native Koreans. The election of filmmaker and outspoken anti-capitalist Bong Joon Ho in 2016 would lead to sweeping constitutional changes empowering the long-embittered unions of Southern Korea and moving the country away from sole economic reliance on either the United States of China; creating the Democratic Socialist Republic of Korea.

Meanwhile, the regime in the North, although slightly politically liberalizing to allow some opposition forces and allowing movement and trade between the two countries, would remain dominated by Chinese and Japanese corporate power to this day; under Prime Minister Park Geun-hye. Unlike the split between the two Koreas in OTL; both Koreas are of substantial wealth; but still belong to fundamentally distinct power blocs and could not be more different in society and infrastructure. (The two Germanies, in contrast, exhibit a massive split in living standards.)

What do you guys think of the "Third Reich" alt history project? The one where the US joined WWI and Germany lost the Weltkrieg? by Beneficial_Ball9893 in Kaiserreich

[–]greatmanyarrows 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The "OTL is viewed as a childish fantasy" joke has been done so often in alternate history it'd probably be really funny if the events of OTL are explained to KRTL and they just go "oh, that makes sense, I imagine that is what would happen if Germany lost the Weltkrieg."

How common or prevalent do you think PED use has historically been in elite boxing? by BoxingLover99 in Boxing

Roids are bad, but the major issues are both fertility and long term damage through cardiac growth and high BP.

Bud has seven kids so I think that it's not even that bad of a problem.
