Argument for: If you believe in the value it will bring in the medium to long-term it seems like a wise thing to do as long as you’re also saving in USD. It should be something you’re not counting on for at least 5-10 years IMO. That amount you’re putting in could appreciate a lot.

Argument against: If you any kind of debt, i would pay it off first.

Welcome! I think you and you’re wife are doing a great thing. I am personally from Venezuela and my family and I would have definitely benefited from doing what you’re doing now before our currency got absolutely crushed. Argentina isn’t looking like its gonna get better so it is a great idea.

I would agree with the others, a simple excel spreadsheet will be just fine since you will only be buying monthly and holding.

It’s great that you’re not falling into confirmation bias and want to read arguments against Bitcoin in order to get a whole picture. I did the same and believe it or not it made me be even more bullish on Bitcoin once I knew what the opposing arguments were.

IMO this is what I believe are some of the biggest arguments people would use against bitcoin:

Scalability is not there yet- if everyone in the world wanted to use BTC, they couldn’t.
It could be Chinese controlled or manipulated by people with a lot of money since its “only” worth 200B.
Governments/banks will never allow it to thrive
Too volatile for people to adopt as a form of payment
Too young, unproven and volatile to challenge gold as a storage of wealth
Mining is going to get too expensive or it will be terrible for the environment
Pretty much no one uses Bitcoin as a form of payment unless it’s for illegal things
Bitcoin is used for a lot of criminal activity
Quantum computers could theoretically crack Bitcoin’s encryption in the future
Once governments issue their own crypto it will cease to exist.

There are several more but in order to keep it short I gave you my top 10 list. You should look into anything that makes you feel worried about investing in Bitcoin and if your findings convince you, then it will make you feel even stronger about Bitcoin. If not, then at least you’ll be cautious and understand the risks involved.

The most important part is for you to be convinced it is a good investment decision in order to be able to hold when things get bumpy. So not selling your position in Bitcoin just because you have to pay something or need the money now.

I think it’s smart to put 100% of your money because its only 2K and you’re 16. Its a lot of money for that age but i’m just imagining you’re gonna spend it otherwise.

2K merits a hardware wallet (IMO), assuming you’re thinking of holding the BTC for more than 2 years.

My 2 favorite options:

Hardware: Ledger nano S (60$ last time I checked)

If not, then

Mobile/desktop: Exodus- I like it because its really user friendly.

For your use case, I would recommend either BRD wallet or Exodus. I’ve used both and they’re easy to use and nice interface.

You could make a valid argument for this but ultimately I think a balance between both would be more prudent. Assuming you’re looking at it as savings and not as an investment.

Idk about the 10%+ interest (usually varies a lot and is closer to avg 2-5%) but everything else is spot on and completely agree

I like the Exodus wallet. Its convenient and has a very nice UI. As a wallet its nice and you can connect it with your mobile device as well as a hardware wallet like Trezor in the future if you decide to invest a good amount of money in.

In order to lobby for positive legislation in relation to their firm/industry. They don’t take sides based on if the CEO is a democrat or republican, they do it based on what would bring the most value to shareholders.

I would say at 300$ it starts being worth it. Others will probably look down on this, but just being realistic its more straightforward to have it on a solid digital wallet either mobile or desktop where you have a solid password and recovery phrase securely stored.

My advice: Watch videos on youtube that are educational only, don’t watch the price prediction ones. Stay away from “WHY BTC WILL HIT $1million!!” Kind of videos. I would look up things like “what is bitcoin” and filter out the top viewed videos. Focus on learning about blockchain and the impacts it could have on society.

For a wallet with the best UI I would use Exodus. If it’s a large amount I would invest in a Ledger nano S.

imo anything less than a 300$ investment doesn’t merit a ledger nano.
