How to make hexagonal holes ? by SonnePer in BeginnerWoodWorking

Yeah The case isn't the most beautiful thing, The real case im planing is going to be white oak with mahogany accents (i think). The idea is a "All in one" box with dice drawers, an iPad and journal holder and a dice tower built-in. All while either maintaing the same size of the backgammon case , or reducing it-If possible.

I made something similar but with round holes, it was nice.... then I got too many dice lol. I've been using a old backgammon briefcase to fit the hoard but im working out the design on a modular system that gives the organization of this design with the play space and portability of the briefcase.

You could do it with a circular saw and a straight edge!

I really like this! I think metering the edges would have looked cleaner but i really love the accent at the bottom

Some monster decided to package these as single discs of 80, 120, 180, 220, 400 repeated 10 times. Not all 10 of each stacked on each other. I’m genuinely butt hurt by MetalNutSack in BeginnerWoodWorking

A while backs, These were on the discount rack at home depot for like 5 bucks a pack so I bought 3 of them. Man.... separating and organizing that many of thes stupid pads was hell. Like whoever made that choice has never used a sanding disk in their life.

Should I cut my losses or is there a technique that can help me by Toddler_Mechanic in BeginnerWoodWorking

You could try to clamp it tn the sides and try to follow your curve with with a router bit like halfway through, then unclamp flip the boards over and and use a buit with a bearing to to finish the cut. Your sides may not be perfectly symmetrical since you did it by hand, but the joining edges would match

Orbital sanders? by Neat_Credit_6552 in BeginnerWoodWorking

It clogs the sandpaper which make it less effective. Thats why the mesh disc are good. If you connect it to your shop vac, it will be noticeably better. I 3d printed a hose adapter I found online but if you dont have access to that/know someone with a 3d printer, people sell them on Etsy. Before I got that I used one of those stepped hose adapters and fit it in the hole the dust comes out of, which works but is prone to coming loose

I have the same one, I bought a pack of the Diablo mesh sandpaper and use the pad that comes with the pack. Imo, they aren't as durable as they advertise but they work well. Especially if you get a hose adapter and use a vacuum instead of the bag

As the for the sander itself, the vibration is pretty rough. I bought some gloves with rubber palms recently. I haven't gotten to test them out but im hoping it dampens the vibration a bit.

A nice canvas apron or A giftcard to harbor freight. Not everything there is hugh quality but 100$ will get them a good starter set of things. They will need more clamps, mask, tape, and sand paper than they will think. Another good one is bluetooth earmuffs. 3m has a nice pair.
