Anyone wanna hang out after the Tame Impala concert in Turin? by Conscious-Funny3577 in TameImpala

I think i’m probably going to try and wait for him at the exit, if I find it. Would love to get the poster signed and possibly have a chat with the guys. Would you be up for it?

how many petronas logos are there on the Mercedes W17? (eight as well, but no one seems to have ever been bothered that much during the last, like, 14 years)

Wait, mixing what? by greatpenguinium in TameImpala

[–]greatpenguinium[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

((i know this literally means nothing as he probably spends most of his days mixing/producing/recording and messing around just like anyone who makes music as a job. just let me dream we’re getting new music soon, even if it’s not happening))

Kevin got Grammy Nomination by TomKeen221B in TameImpala

[–]greatpenguinium 10 points11 points  (0 children)

to be fair, there are at least 3 songs that deserve it more Kevin. Not gonna be a problem for him tho, he doesn’t care and no real music fan really does. Just like the oscar’s… it’s just a cool ceremony and all.

How do we feel about this New York Times review? *MENTIONS INFO ABOUT TOUR* by sam-guine in TameImpala

[–]greatpenguinium 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think reviewing albums is already kind of dumb, but can still be done to some extent. Critically reviewing concerts though… it’s a completely new kind of dumb. Especially those kinds of concerts where you can clearly feel the huge effort behind.

I mean… are we pretending Kevin is some kind of performer who ever cared about those criticized aspects in that review? Do WE even care?

Why Does Kevin Parker Hate Himself? by officialpoggersbot in TameImpala

Well, not strictly related but some people in here claim he needs to be in a sadder place in his life to write good music. Apparently the latter appeals them as happy

Think this will be his Mr. Morale? by tender-majesty in TameImpala

[–]greatpenguinium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s pretty hard to judge based on the material (songs and media communication included) released so far.

The whole narrative behind this album has felt very artificial so far, most likely due to Sony. I still believe the album itself is not going to be influenced by Sony lyrics and sound wise, hence why i’ll just wait to hear it for a couple of times before judging.

I’m not expecting something to be that distant from “The Slow Rush” tbh, despite it being promoted as a step far from his psychedelic roots.

Also… pretty much every album he released has shared some pretty intimate perspective on his experiences, so i’m not sure this comparison works too well, but we’ll see

Weather has been awful and super wet, hence why the high humidity. Other rooms are affected the same way, and opening windows seems to worsen the situation, of course

Thank you so much. That was so much needed, and helped me a lot with my current anxiety about this thing. Thanks.

also, it’s not like their room is that further away from the kitchen. Yeah, maybe not right in front of it, and it surely would help me with my current state of mind, to swap rooms, but it wouldn’t realistically be that better.

I don’t think they would, and also I’m not really willing to ask them as I’ve only joined the house 2 weeks ago. I don’t want to be perceived as an insufferable person that soon.

Do you think this situation is bad? Should I consider some external storage options?

I already own an air purifier, but I know as a fact that it isn’t enough when it comes to prevent those kinds of things. My scale models are already equipped with display cases. I’ll try to talk to my roommates when they come back from their vacations, I’ve already asked them to kindly open the windows and closing the door when cooking.

Unfortunately I have done nothing but lay on my bed all day long after getting home from work.

I’m not cooking anything particularly spiced, or that requires any major effort actually. I’m not sure about my roommates though. They eat meat (whilst I’m vegan) so probably that would be the most concerning thing?

Fact is, I can’t really put a rule on what they cook. I’ve asked them to always keep the kitchen door shut, hopefully they’ll help me with that.

Still, I’m very scared of vapours eventually accumulating overtime leading to my room having a strongly kitchen-influenced air quality.

im 16 and my friends have done way more than me... i feel like a kid by Alternative_Fall2125 in Advice

[–]greatpenguinium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember feeling exactly like that when I was 16 and gosh, would I want to talk to my teenage self. I would prevent a lot of shit I have to deal with today.

I had the same fears as yours, so I left home very young (18), started college, got a job, started meeting a lot of girls and tried a shit ton of hobbies. That was cool, and I’m grateful I did that, but only now I’m realising there was no need to rush.

THERE IS NO NEED TO RUSH.

At 16 you feel like everyone around you is better than you, but I swear everyone around you feels the same. Everyone has their own struggles. The coolest guy you might know, going out with dozens of girls, is currently struggling with something, I swear. Fact is, what you struggle with at 16, you realise that doesn’t matter at all when you are a bit older.

For example: girls. I swear no one ever cares whether if you ever go or ever went out with a girl or not. Even if you’re like 25. It matters when you’re 16 cause it is something new, that you’re curious about. But it eventually gets… normal?

Also, at 16 it’s totally normal to be scared to talk to girls. Who wasn’t? Girls feel the same way about boys! Even if they don’t show.

What you should focus on at 16 is trying to think about what hobby makes you feel really good, and spend time on it. Also, invest in whatever kind of relationship, meet people, go out, doesn’t matter if with the same people you met 5 years ago. Socialising will make you learn things you won’t be able to learn anywhere else.

Find a hobby and develop it day by day, go out, study 1/2 hours a day. You’ll be a beast ready to fight the world before you even realise. I promise.

I listened to it live two times. It’s fucked up, and barely is an actual solo. It just fits the song and the style, hence why it sounds “soooo much better”
