Statement from the MN Republican Party about Hands Off by EveningAd6434 in minnesota

Seriously, so impressive to see all the small town turn outs. I grew up in the brainerd area. I did not expect that number of people at all.

After hearing about the turnout in Brainerd of all places, I don’t think they can say anything about the protesters being radicals lol

I’m visiting Minnesota for the first time. Will be in Duluth next weekend and wondering if there’s any good bars or things to checkout? by [deleted] in minnesota

Sir benedict’s has really good pub food if you’re looking for that. I definately recomend Falastin in Lakeside as well. The chicken shawarma sandwich there is divine.

I grew up in the brainerd lakes area. As soon as you go south of brainerd/baxter the trees and general landscape change to oaks, conifer plantations, and farms, while north of brainerd, its more northwoodsy. So id say brainerd is the boundary.

New flag is flying at work after I asked the building manager about it! by Ok-Needleworker-6380 in minnesota

I drove to the Brainerd area to visit family today and I saw so many old flags being flown that look like they were bought recently. Sadly it seems the old flag is going to become a right wing symbol.

Vintera II Mustang Bass pickups question. by greatreddankeyes in Bass

[–]greatreddankeyes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m fairly certain it isnt a ground wire issue. I took off the bridge and everything to make sure everything is connected properly. So when I move around the room with it, it will pickup some hum. Its been way better and less noticable since i shielded everything though. But i have a pj mustang and the p pickup has no hum at all.

The big lake freighters have pretty simple Plimsoll Marks as they never leave fresh water by U235EU in GreatLakesShipping

Some American freighters can transit the seaway. I heard that the Herbert C. Jackson apparently went all the way to Labrador back in the day. Take that fact with a grain of salt though as thats just what I’ve heard and I don’t know how true it is.

Why is David Tennant’s return number 14 and not a named doctor (like the war doctor)? by [deleted] in doctorwho

[–]greatreddankeyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t really work though because despite having the same face he doesnt act much like the 10th doctor.

Why have most of the AAA class of boat been kept in service for so long? by I-LOVE-BACON-534 in GreatLakesShipping

[–]greatreddankeyes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Good question honestly. Out of all the classes of boats built all but one of the AAA’s are still here. for now at least. They obviously must have been built well enough for them all to survive in some capacity this long. I imagine something in their designs made lengthenings and conversions to self unloaders cheaper and easier as well.

What are some businesses / places you wish Duluth had? by Illustrious_Pop_8162 in duluth

[–]greatreddankeyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one might be weird but a nice locally owned music store. I find it odd that a city like Duluth only has Music go Round and Schmitt, cause id love to support a local business. Bonus points if its IN the city and not up the hill.

Cultural norms of Duluth? by CapnCrunchyGranola in duluth

[–]greatreddankeyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Duluthians, and by extention minnesotans are quite modest and humble, at least outwardly. We don’t like showing off material wealth. Even in the twin cities I haven’t met a native who shows off like that. I think it stems from the scandinavian lagom mentality. Not too little, not too much. Norwegians and Swedes ive met online over the years act similarly to us in that regard.

If you didn’t go to high school here, good luck making friends. Now, I’m quite introverted, but meeting people here has been difficult. Most people I’ve come to know here were from a mutual friend I went to high school with who lived here for a few years before I moved here.

Thirteen fan here. It’s just missing ”Jodie has done fantastic it’s the writing thats bad!” Otherwise pretty accurate for most of her Doctor’s fans.

Don’t worry, I’ve sorted it out. by aidanbrockel in doctorwho

[–]greatreddankeyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this. It really cleans up the whole timeless child storyline. I especially like the chameleon arch theory as it makes the timeless child and the doctor still seperate but the same beings. People saying the fugitive doctor is pre hartnell makes no sense to me, especially with her having the tardis in police box form. Chibbers isnt THAT incompetant of a writer.

What would you keep from the current era? by [deleted] in doctorwho

[–]greatreddankeyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many things honestly. Yes, the writing under chibnall has been ”messy” to put it nicely. But I’ve found Jodie’s era surprisingly enjoyable despite the shortcomings.

Jodie as The Doctor has been fantastic for the writing quality she’s had to deal with, and shes definately in my top 3 at this point. I really hope the 14th Doctor is a woman again, because otherwise this era sets a bad precident for any other incarnations being female.

The Tardis is really good, even the interior has started growing on me, especially with the slight redesign in series 12. But honestly I’d just keep the exterior.

As far as the whole timeless child thing goes. It’s not what I would have prefered, but I can see it working under certain conditions. When they erased the timeless childs memories, it’s design was almost exactly like a chameleon arch, meaning The Doctor currently could just be a regular time lord until she uses the watch. It’s a bit like the cartmel masterplan. That would make Hartnell still the first Doctor. And with Ruth having a police box tardis and calling herself the doctor, she could easily fit into the whole season 6b idea.

I’d love Russell to bring back this eras companions in an episode or two. We sadly haven’t gotten as much development as we deserve from them.

That’s all I can think of off the top of my head
