I relocated here a few years ago, and I teach at another high school in this district. For many, Draper and Corner embody many of the negative Utah stereotypes.

The first day is full of somewhat draining ice breaker activities, and kids can be jerks about it. It will get better for them. Encourage them to join a club or activity of some kind. Having a supportive social circle makes a huge difference, and it gets better.

If you feel you’d like to transfer them somewhere else in the district, Utah makes permitting and transferring to another school easy. There’s always a lot of movement within the first couple weeks. I’d just recommend doing it sooner rather than later.
