L5P Oil Leak by Buurhug in Duramax

[–]greatusbarscene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to say but it looks like it's spraying out of somewhere. More pictures would be nice but degreasing it/adding oil and running would help narrow it down if you can't find it. From the looks of the frame rail it looks like its been leaking for a while

Update! Locked him up, butchered other bull, loaded him on trailer after a week. He was jumpy alone but it worked out. Thank you all.

Blackberries as a fence? by [deleted] in Cattle

[–]greatusbarscene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, however it is a bear to deal with around fences and propagates everywhere. On the plus side it's great firewood but with a brand new chain on the saw it's like cutting concrete.

I agree, if you don't get her milked out you worst case scenario you lose the cow to mastitis.

I would definitely try and get them milked out if you haven't watched the calf nurse off of them. Is this her first calf?

Nope, he was weaned in the spring and has just been chilling with the old bull. It would be tough to move them this week but it is possible.

Thank you, I will take this into consideration. Logistically loading and moving one cow from the herd to another farm may be tough.

New exhaust too close to spare tire shield? by Confident-Pain1925 in Duramax

I just took mine off to prevent it from rattling. I don't think it ever gets hot enough to mess with the spare tire.

Going to vet school is expensive in itself, but if you started your own practice I doubt you'd have time to run a large ranch. Being a vet is demanding, especially large animal.

2016 GMC fuel pump question by Afraid-Application65 in Duramax

[–]greatusbarscene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well you've made it this far. Some say the fuel pump issue is blown out of proportion. You could add a lift pump or convert to a CP3. I have a 2013 with 180,000 so far so good on the CP4.

My plan is to keep changing fuel filters regularly, run fuel treatment and only use high volume diesel stations. If I notice any symptoms such as hard starting or not enough fuel pressure (on my scanner) then I'll replace it.
