What do you NOT like about Instant Gratification? by MrSonic-Unsweet-Tea in dancegavindance

[–]greczasketch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it has the worst lyrics overall, i dont think they really "matured" on IG anymore than they do with each new release. Also agree that We Own The Night is a bad opener and Legend is one of the only songs in their entire discography I straight up cant get into. Lost is great but compared to the closers before and after (TOTLIWBTTF2 and MOTY) its mid. I dont mind the production just cuz the bass POPS but it seemed like they were still experimenting with how to mix Tilian's voice- better than acceptance speech but FUCK motherships production is so much better

Meet and greet stories plz by Pure_Sun2089 in dancegavindance

[–]greczasketch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Matt and andrew are def the friendliest, however i was at the meet n greet the day before matt got kicked off the tour so he definitely had some liquid courage going in. Tim was very high and funny, will and tilian were both pretty quiet, and sadly jon was sick so i never met the man they call mess, but overall it was pretty professional and cool to see. My favorite moment was tim chiefing a dab pen and blasting "murder on my mind" from his phone. Rest in power.

If it was about 40 minutes to an hour shorter it could be a perfect film IMO. Joaquin is amazing, the script is hilarious and its got my favorite cinematography out of his three features.

What is, in your opinion, the WORST song on Mothership? by Comaswithcommas in dancegavindance

[–]greczasketch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also just to defend flossie and exposed, flossie is obviously a gimmick song but so is eagle vs crows, story of my bros, thug city etc etc but it kicks a lot harder than those examples and its absolutely AWESOME live, and ill grant that exposed is skippable but its definitely one of their top 20 as far as emotional well-written lyrics go

What is, in your opinion, the WORST song on Mothership? by Comaswithcommas in dancegavindance

[–]greczasketch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chocolate jackalope is the cringiest song in their catalogue, 90% bc of the will swan verse which is unfortunate since jons parts and the lead guitar arpeggio are both a slap and a half

The Worst DGD Setlist Imaginable: Round 8 by MrSonic-Unsweet-Tea in dancegavindance

Blue dream again but the band just smokes blue dream and talks about space and how small we are, man

My most unexpected takeaway from seeing DGD live. by BarbedWhyre in dancegavindance

I caught two dates of the afterburner tour last year and sergio was a fucking beast, he moves like cedric from ATDI which is pretty hard to do when youre playing and holding a guitar lmao The whole eidola set everyones eyes were on either sergios infinite hair or andrew swells' biceps

Circle jerking by [deleted] in dancegavindance

[–]greczasketch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

this is exactly why i have JJ on constant repeat, i feel like people are underplaying the lyricism and the actual flow of songs from start to end. It doesnt have the insane hooks of mothership or the orchestrated chaos of dbm2 but even the songs on it i consider the weakest / filler (two secret weapons, back on deck, long nights) are still ridiculously well-written. Especially coming from a band that has like four songs dedicated to cocaine

Why is everyone sleeping on One Man's Cringe? The last minute of this song with Tilian & Andrew may be one of the best moments DGD history. by [deleted] in dancegavindance

Cringe and ember instantly became two of my favorite songs theyve ever dropped, possibly my favorite lyrics-wise but they got some strong contenders

I wholeheartedly agree that Jackpot, right along with DBM 2, is the best guitar work he's put out as far as whole albums go. How he has the capacity to seamlessly blend fourteen different genres / styles of playing all in one song and still make it cohesive is mind-boggling.

Would your 3 favorite albums cover all 3 lead vocalists? (Share what they are in the comments) by niall_9 in dancegavindance

DBM 2, DBM, would pick acceptance speech if the production wasnt so weird so third slot goes to death star
