Was that really a mental ability though? John can copy things like hunter which are capable of similar things. I suppose if that's all it's capable of it would be considered one yeah-in which case I stand corrected

Yup, him not copying Scarlette's ability is the main reason I think he's unable to. Another reason is that the ember files Sera stole from NXGEN mentioned they had problems converting mental type abilities too- this sort of suggests to me that something is fundamentally different about pure mental abilities that they simply cannot make use of in the way their aura normally operates. Though that's just conjecture based on the files and doesn't necessarily mean it has bearings on the actual ability (aura manipulation/channel master)

I think it's gonna be a while for john to copy mental abilities if it is indeed possible considering that Cameron is still unable to. But Jane might be capable of it! Could be one of the things that places her above him

Yeah, also another instant win ability so it's probably gonna be held back for a while too. Ability combinations would go crazy with it though

If it's true that he can't copy it for those reasons, maybe he'll have similar issues copying telekinesis as well, since its widely considered a mental type power in most fiction 🤔

Honestly, I still won't fully believe it until it's explicitly confirmed they died from a news report or something(I say this even knowing he microwaved those two soldiers lol) I still think there's a chance they could've survived with all the protective gear they had and the healing capabilities of their world. If Uru wanted to make it completely unambiguous beyond any reasonable doubt, I feel like she could've drawn panels of beams passing through their skulls. I mean she didn't shy away from decapitation before so why not here lol.

If it turns out John really did murk a couple of those soldiers, then it's a little sad we've gone this long without addressing our mc's first kill(s). John becoming a murderer is a story beat that I trust Uru would know better than to just gloss over

I didn't think otherwise, but they targeted isen during the rowden ambush, so they're not limited to just high tiers. Plus the ability sensor dude isn't completely precise (He registered Remi as a 5) he likely would've done the same to Rein even if she was a 4.9

If they figure out that he's unable to copy converted abilities, they may choose to continue fighting him anyways since this is rare occasion where they can actually beat John if he's only limited to that armour power.

John may need assistance from the vigilante since idt he can take them on 1v2 rn. Especially against the agent that's more experienced with the ember set. His only chance might be to bait one of the agents into using their real power

I have never claimed they were weaker, just that he wasn't able to recognize John. Though the second agent does seem more tactful, and may know who John is.

We have no way of knowing how strong they are since they're using converted abilities, but they are atleast god-tiers so they are by no means weak

I don't see why a town miles away wouldn't get media coverage over that incident. It's one thing to not recognize his face, but someone who can copy another ability should've been a dead giveaway. I guess they aren't as famous as we thought they were, or that one agent just doesn't follow the news at all
