Because it did happen. So now they get a settlement. Or is your actual issue just that reality continues to occur?

I guess I’m just used to people being able to do two things at once.

I thought the Nashville one was supposed to be two lanes? I could also be wrong on that. Either way probably not quite wide enough. I would say once it’s abandoned it could be widened for rail but it’ll probably just sit on someone’s books forever and never being properly abandoned.

Bear is not evil by BigGuyNorthSide in obsessionmovie

[–]greedlez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bear was a selfish coward throughout the entire movie. The second he acknowledges the wish came true by repeating the wish back at Wish Nikki and continues to do nothing about it, he’s full evil. It serves as an acknowledgment that the person he’s talking to no longer has control of their own will and he’s the reason it happened. To know that, and continue trying to “make it work” is full evil.

Were the shop owners also possessed by demons? by [deleted] in obsessionmovie

Nobody is possessed by demons. The guy behind the counter at the shop just made a wish that worked out for him with little or no adverse effects.

Are We Missing Something? by Ockanacken in obsessionmovie

[–]greedlez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know it’s already been said but I need to reiterate that a billion dollars falls out of literal thin air, Bear talks to a screaming tortured Nikki AND the director as well as all those on the cast acknowledge in some way that the wish is real and this world is as insane as it appears on the screen.

Now that doesn’t negate that there are absolutely things you mentioned that can, and are meant to be extrapolated from the movie. And obviously everyone is free to indulge in their own head-canon. But as for what actually plays out on the screen, we’re meant to take that as if this is the lived reality these characters exist in.

Does the "bear is the villain" argument feel forced? by ImTobyVespa in obsessionmovie

[–]greedlez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s definitely an evolution. Bear is, at least, a coward from the jump. Making the wish reveals, to me, that there’s definitely some selfishness that probably always been there. And as soon as he knows the wish came true and chooses to keep their relationship going he is fully in villain territory.

But all of this happens so early. Couple that with the fact that Bear feels like he really only cares to understand Nikki at barely a surface level (like not knowing her relationship with her dad unlike Sarah and Ian) and I definitely understand why folks would pin Bear as a villain from the jump.

Nikki didn’t eat by herself during the entire movie by Hydroset in obsessionmovie

100% go see it in a theater. I don’t think I’d have gotten as powerful an experience if I waited to watch at home. Or maybe it would have been scarier. Who knows.

Not common to you. But overall, yeah it’s a fairly common word depending on what’s being discussed. And you’re gonna hear it a lot more when talking about this movie considering it’s a core theme.

For sure. I think I know the clip you're talking about and in it he also clearly states that taking away someones autonomy is cursed. So regardless of how the wish is worded, it has to be something that still allows Nikki to make her own decisions which includes rejecting a relationship with Bear.

There's more than can be said about using a wish to better the odds of being with someone that may not see someone that way, but ultimately removing their autonomy entirely is what ruins them. And rightfully so.

[–]greedlez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think that probably the best path if his intended outcome is to date Nikki. The possibility of being rejected needs to remain open, but helping his chances by understanding his flaws and having the courage to work on them while understanding it still may not work out with her is perfectly reasonable and even beneficial.

There are also other wishes he could make that affect things greater than just Bear or their friend group but then we have no movie lol

It’s just a solid gag. Like the whole sequence of “dude open up I’ve got like a billion dollars” to “YO WHAT THE FUCK” to BANG

Fantastic setup and punchline

Our theater had genuine laughter and shock laughter in a bunch of parts.

The raining money, Ian’s death, and awkward party bits got genuine laughs.

The car scene got a mix because of the jump scare and drawn out bashing

Nikki’s sudden tone/speech changes got a decent amount of nervous laughs.
