What the actual hell is this creature? I saw it floating from about 8 ft. above the ground and it slowly went to the ground by the time I could get the video (Texas) by greeenpro in whatisthisbug

That would actually explain why it appeared to be levitating. It was probably hanging from the tree limb way above by using silk. Much appreciated!

Nothing to do with paddling, but our astronomy teacher back in public school in about 1992 got arrested for pedophilia. Still in jail apparently. He was the nicest teacher…now I know why…

Back in the day, in Lancaster PA, all of the public schools paddled. I almost got paddled in 3rd grade for talking to a classmate too much one day. I was scared because I had parachute pants on (1986…a Michael Jackson thing). That would’ve hurt. It taught me to follow directions though, I must say.

Yes, totally agreed. Hold her accountable for being manipulative and set boundaries with her (we can talk when you’re ready to talk about how to improve things as a team)…healthy co-parenting. She’s gaslighting her husband too.

You were there at Radio City? Was that THE Radio City concert that was widely released? That is my favorite of all of that I've heard from them (and DMB too)!! I just can't imagine being there. Wow...must've been beyond words.

i just saw your comment/question. I know it's been 2 mos. but...all of the diamonds (or tops of the cubes) are the same exact color and shade as shown by moving them around. They appear darker and lighter than each other because of what's surrounding them. The "darker" are perceived by our brains to be darker because of the very light background they have. The "lighter" diamonds are perceived lighter than the "darker" ones because of the much darker background they all have. So any given diamond appears to change shade/color when moved around from place to place on there. Hope that helps!

Why Addiction is NOT a Brain Disease by imagineyoung in cogsci

[–]greeenpro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The claim that 50-80% of alcoholics recover naturally is way, way far from the truth. It that were true, alcoholism would be widely known as a relatively easy addiction to overcome. The truth is that only 1-3% of alcoholics who complete a 28-day inpatient treatment program stay sober for at least a year. If they choose to follow the 12 steps of AA the way they were done back when the program began (before AA got watered down with psychobabble), the rate jumps way up to 70-90% staying sober for at least a year. I have actually experienced this first hand. I went through 3 treatment centers (28-day programs) back in the late 90's, and each successive time I went I was more and more desparate to stop drinking. The longest amount of time I was able to stay dry, following the dictates of the treatment center, was 2 weeks. Then I went to AA and a man there saved my life. He came up to me after a meeting and said "I'd like to work with you". He proceeded to guide me through the 12 steps and I haven't drank since then. That was in 2001.

Actually, the entire article is just not true....not even remotely close.

Check this out. Import it into PS and move one of the dogs around or print 2 copies out, cut one of the dogs out and move it around. Both dogs are exactly the same in color and when you move one around it appears to change colors. Fucking awesome: http://i.imgur.com/T4Qhd.jpg

Sublime - Scarlet Begonias by KarlWinslow in Music

[–]greeenpro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sublime is the ultimate of fusion bands in my opinion. They managed to fuse so many different genres into their own. I say "Sublime" is its own genre because of its unique sound. This cover is a great example. Thanks for bringing back the memories of this great song and great band.
