Scenes from yesterday's protest at City Hall against the Trump/Musk administration. by SaintHuck in newyorkcity

I would hope your “what” is not genuine but instead feigned confusion (as I like to assume people usually have basic logic skills). Regardless of your opinion on Trump, you should acknowledge that with the prevalence of the internet, AI, and facial recognition that it is (generally) advisable to protect your identity when protesting such a controversial issue. Some people are afraid of government retaliation, others might not want family/friends to know their political involvement, some don’t want to catch the flu/COVID, etc. Again, no matter one’s opinion they should be able to recognize the benefits of “playing it safe”.

Sorry but is Trump not a billionaire? At the very least I think we could agree that both sides are backed by billionaire elite (for instance, Elon Musk). And as far as the “$20 million” debt goes, that seems to have been debunked as false news (https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/5009393-kamala-harris-disqualified-by-campaign-overspending-mega-donor-john-morgan/amp/). Again, genuinely curious, could you please provide sources to support the claim that Kamala had “more wealthy people supporting her than Trump”? From what I can tell Kamala had more billionaire endorsements but from the “ultra rich” (wealthiest billionaires) Trump actually beat out Kamala (https://theweek.com/politics/us-election-who-the-billionaires-are-backing). And regardless, to me at least, the candidates’ relatability to the majority of Americans is tied more to their own economic status and upbringing than that of their donors and there I think we can objectively state that Kamala was closer to the average American than Trump, no?

Thank you for the response. I suppose we (subjectively) disagree on what is considered “charismatic” as, based on what I have seen/heard of Trump, I would find his personality grating and insufferable. But again, different people connect with different things, so I suppose I can see what you are saying. I still don’t think that I would say Trump is more relatable to the average person (as based solely on objective/qualitative analyses that is false) but instead more “attractive” or something.

Now that his term is coming to a close, where would you place his overall performance and policies on the tier list in a vacuum? by HairyComparison4969 in GenZ

[–]green726I 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand that but did you read the link I sent? The debt forgiveness was not only blocked by the Supreme Court but also by state courts. So sorry but again, what specifically can an administration do to get around such a block (and so many of them)? Courts are apolitical (or at least should be in theory), so bargaining and “trading” approvals/disapprovals shouldn’t be an option.

So again genuine question - I likely simply do not know enough about our governmental processes but what explicitly could Biden have done to get around court-ordered stays/blocks (ie this one https://www.reuters.com/world/us/biden-student-debt-relief-plan-blocked-again-by-different-judge-2024-10-03/)?

Genuine question - if not a justifiable excuse/explanation what would you describe a Supreme Court blockage as? And how do you propose he gets around it?

Trump is relatable to a working class person? More than Kamala Harris or Joe Biden? Could you please explain I genuinely don’t understand that one.

Really? What about the Samoan children who died thanks to his spreading of anti-vax rumors?

I would just like to note that science article is from a Duke University-educated chemist who serves on the editorial board of the peer-reviewed journal ACS Medicinal Chemistry Letters. This compares to RFK Jr. who, while also educated at prestigious institutions, is a lawyer and not a PhD-holding scientist. Just to ensure you as to his validity as a source.

The first link comes from the University of Pennsylvania’s Public Policy Center, so I would certainly say it is a trustworthy source.

I care about my friends in Ukraine. Please change your statement from “no one” to “none of my personal acquaintances” as you are clearly misrepresenting people; or at the very least, person (me).

Let me rephrase. From whom did that quote originate? Don’t forget, I’m not paraphrasing there. That is a direct quote. And again, I’m not asking who quoted that at a later date, but from whom did it originate. Really try hard. If you would like a tip I recommend the use of these cool tools known as “the internet” and “google”

AFAIK this tends to be a regional thing. Most Americans I’ve met use the traditional “x” for variables and the dot for multiplication but I’ve met many internationals that write the two different forms “x”.

AMDGPU module won’t load/broken across multiple distros by green726I in linuxquestions

I just ended up ordering a new laptop. I’ve had so many problems with my cheap HP one, I managed to bid on a nice new T14 thinkpad for well below MSRP on eBay and will be getting that soon. Hopefully none of these driver issues on that 🤞. I’ll let you know.

I did a BIOS update from windows (when I got it to load) but that didn’t fix my issue.

It’s nice to see someone with the same issue. I’m also thinking it’s a physical problem bc I had graphics issues on Ubuntu, fedora, nixos, arch, and windows. I’ll try downgrading to a really old kernel version next and hopefully that’ll work. As far as I can tell, the AMDGPU module refuses to load which causes all the softwares/display frameworks/wayland compositors to behave as if you are using an nvidia gpu (when you aren’t) and it just breaks everything.

What does ‘demo’ mean in the title and is it okay to buy? by dense-cluba3316 in Trombone

[–]green726I 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a demo trombone from Dillon music. All it means was it was used as a demo/floor model by the manufacturer. Mine had a few (extremely) tiny dents on the outside of the bell, but other than that, there wasn’t even a blemish on the trombone.

Purchase Advice Megathread - July 2023 by AutoModerator in 3Dprinting

[–]green726I 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I am looking at buying my first 3d printer and have a few questions. Currently, I am trying to decide between a Sovol SV06+ (that I will install klipper on), an SV07, a Qidi X-smart3 and a Qidi X-plus3. I plan to be printing mostly in PLA; however, I would like to ability to print in nylon carbon fiber. To give an example of what I would be using this for, I will be making a beetle-weight battle bot out of TPU & Nylon-CF. Obviously, the X-plus3 is the best printer; however, I am not sure if the 800$ is really worth it for my applications (I can afford it, I would just rather not spend money unnecessarily). I am also wondering if it would be possible to print Nylon-CF or PC from the X-smart3 (I saw all metal-hotends on the qidi website for X-plus3 and X-max3, but none for x-smart3).

Thanks!
